The Magnificent Goldberg Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Us Brits keep on posting that we got such and such for £2.99 or whatever and I just wondered how it comes out in other parts of the world... I have a sneaking suspicion that it comes out as a hash - # - but if so, what does a hash on my keyboard look like elsewhere? MG Quote
aparxa Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Works fine for me , I see well £2.99 + £4.99 for shipment. It depends if the currency/symbol is supported by the browser. I wonder what ស្នើសុំ means in khmer Quote

Jazzmoose Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 That's why I always type Bjorks name without the accent mark, whatever that one is called. Exactly. If I have to be accurate, I'll never mention Brotzmann again... Quote

Yes - on my keyboard £ is shift 3, where you keep # - which is why I thought it might come out on US browsers as #. Well, I was also told this in the early days of the internet. Thanks folks. Christiern Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Here are some of the results on my Mac keyboard. Claude Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I've never seen a £ sign making problem. It's usually the € sign that displays wrongly on some message boards, when I type it with the Opera browser. No problem here, but on sa-cd.net, when I type € on my keyboard, it will display as something like "&3489" after my message is posted. Quote

Ah, there's a reason for that - it's the year when Britain joins the Euro MG Quote
seeline Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I use Firefox and Opera and have never had a problem seeing the "pound" sign as it's supposed to be displayed, although both browsers (like Safari) allow you to change character encoding options. As far as keyboard layout, Windows users can switch to a lot of different settings, including English-UK. The problem is remembering where the "special" characters are located! (BTW, I use the US - International setting, which is nice if you want to be able to type things like this without having to go to the Character Map - ¿ ç ü ... and so on.) Quote
