mgraham333
Blue Note 70th Anniversary All-Stars - To celebrate Blue Note’s 70th anniversary in 2009 we have assembled a truly all star band that will record at the end of May. The band features our own Bill Charlap on piano, Ravi Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Steve Wilson on alto sax, Nicolas Payton on trumpet, Pat Martino on guitar, Peter Washington on bass and Lewis Nash on drums. The group will record new arrangements of Blue Note classics by Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, and more. The album will be released in January to coincide with a 50-date tour across the U.S. during which this incredible band will spread the Blue Note gospel. Sounds like another: I'd go see the group if they come down here, but I dunno about the recording. Hope it turns out well!

It does seem like a wisp of time ago that I saw a Blue Note 60th anniversary concert in New York--Greg Osby Quartet with Jason Moran, Gonzalo Rubalcaba (solo)); and Charlie Hunter/[forgetting the name of the percussionist who put out three recordings and seemingly disappeared] duo. blajay
Just noticed this tour will stop in Berkeley in a week or so. I might check it out. Anybody plan on going wherever and whenever they are near to you too?
