PHILLYQ Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 That Willisau box by Braxton has been expected for quite some time now- I'll believe it when it actually is reissued. Quote
ghost of miles Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Love that Braxton box--managed to snag it from Cadence a few years ago shortly before it went OOP. What's the release date on these? Quote
jlhoots Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 That Willisau box by Braxton has been expected for quite some time now- I'll believe it when it actually is reissued. Same for the Shepp / Roach. I saw that announced around 4 years ago. Quote

You saw those announced on the HatArt web site 4 years ago or someplace else? I'm holding out hope that they're coming. Does anyone have a contact at HatArt they can email or call? Quote

Shepp / Roach is listed on the back of a Hatology CD I own that came out in 2004. Quote

John L Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 What is that Albert Ayler release? I thought that the only Ayler Hat was Lorrach. Quote
Swinger Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 I'm going to buy those two Zorn cds. I've been looking for them for ages. I've seen some copies of them at Ebay but I've never won any of them Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 News For Lulu is a triumph, one of the rare recordings where an interesting concept actually spurs better playing, and as no-set-roles fully interactive as you could hope for. Quote
Leeway Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Is this finally the Braxton Hatology Santa Cruz reissue? Spotted on EBAY, sold as a new copy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTHONY-BRAXTON-QUARTET-SANTA-CRUZ-1993-1ST-SET-CD-HAT-HUT-RE-NEW-/400884109358?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:US:1120 Should be a 2nd Set coming too. Edited March 14, 2015 by Leeway Quote
colinmce Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 It's out. Also CT - Garden (First Set). I'm not holding my breath for a second volume of either one. Quote
mjazzg Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 Yep, my copy (half) of Santa Cruz is on its way from InstantJazz Quote
erwbol Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 It will be interesting to see to how many copies this second edition is limited. First edition was 2000 copies. Quote
Leeway Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 Will the 2nd set of Santa Cruz not be published? (or CT's Garden)? That would be peculiar. I thought that was the plan. Quote
colinmce Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 That's the plan but you know the track record here. Even in the 90s during the label's boom times multi volume sets could be separated by years. Quote
Late Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 I've never heard the Santa Cruz set. At last, I can purchase a reissue I haven't already heard! Quote
jlhoots Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 I just purchased from Jazz Messengers in Barcelona. Quote
johnblitweiler Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 What is that Albert Ayler release? I thought that the only Ayler Hat was Lorrach. The Berlin-Stockholm concerts CD is from the same 1965 tour of Europe. Quote
romualdo Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 It's out. Also CT - Garden (First Set). I'm not holding my breath for a second volume of either one. Finally!! - I've had Garden II since the 90's but never managed get its matching set Quote

I think this was the first Hat Art 24bit release Quote
colinmce Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Makes no damn sense. Zero. Pointless. Both sets are indispensable, though you do get to enjoy an absolutely inSANE Braxton solo on contrabass sax during set One that is worth the price of admission alone. And the climax of the first half is hair-raising. Quote
king ubu Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) The fact that these are singles is indeed weird. The Willisau ones are listed as two doubles on the website (under upcoming ... the new ones are still there as well, guess there's no one around to keep the website updated constantly).(typo edited) Edited March 16, 2015 by king ubu Quote
