Soul Stream Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 Just wondering. There's so many great ones, but thought I'd throw this out and see what people's thoughts were. Quote
Harold_Z Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 COLD SWEAT and LICKIN' STICK are two that come immediately to mind - I know there are lots more. Quote
scottb Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 Initially, I thought of I GOT THAT FEELIN', COLD SWEAT, and SUPER BAD but after a quick visit to JB Greatest Hits I really like what's happenin underneth SAY IT LOUD and HOT PANTS Final verdict (tonight) SUPER BAD Quote
brownie Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 ' I Feel Good' was an early favorite until I saw James Brown introduce 'Cold Sweat' back in 1967 at the Paris Olympia. Then there was 'I Feel Like Being a Sex Machine'... And now, Ladies and Gentlemen,! JAMES BROWN!!! Quote
SEK Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 "Lickin' Stick", "I've Got A Bag Of My Own", and "I Got Ants In My Pants" Quote

JSngry Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 If I nominated "Take A Look At Those Cakes", you'd think I was kidding, but I'm not. Quote
Jim Dye Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 "Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose" from 1970 with the Bootsy, Cheese, Clyde rhythm section. Quote
BruceH Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 Impossible to choose..."Cold Sweat"? "Brand New Bag"? "Sex Machine"? Any of the above or the last one I listened to. Favorite drum line, though: "The Funky Drummer" Quote

Noj Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Did James Brown or the JB's have a bass line that wasn't THE BEST? One of my favorites is "Blessed Blackness," just because it is so different. Quote
WD45 Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 Paid tha Costs to be tha Boss. "look at me know what you see you see a bad mutha" from Black Caesar Quote

I understand that in his book of a year or two back, Fred Wesly says that James Brown knows almost nothing about music. He sure made some great records though. And those bands were something else. Soul Stream Posted February 14, 2006 Author Report Posted February 14, 2006 My favorite bass player of James' was "Sweet" Charles Sherrell. Almost everytime I hear a bassline I really dig on a JB cut, it almost always is credited to Charles. He was bad, also a great singer too if you ever hear the single JB cut on him. Quote
Big Al Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 The JB's "More Peas" "I'm gonna play the organ the way I play the pie-yanna" Quote

Famous last words... "Fred, I Love you like a brother. I can't go no further. I got to let you go" "Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing" has a great "Bootsy" bassline. Quote
