AfricaBrass Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 It's great to see pictures of these shows! I really loved the old To Tell the Truth. These shows bring back great memories of being a kid. Quote
JSngry Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 You guys think Monty had Bob Barker type luck with Carol Merrill? I dunno, let's see what's behind curtain #3! Quote
JSngry Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Check out the babe. Yeah, Elizabeth Montgomery when she finally let her hair fall naturally to the side instead of that dorky pull-back. That was a a Golden Age for her and her natural beautiness. Quote
Free For All Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 (edited) I loved the Match Game. Swingin' Safari! I remember getting to watch it when I was sick and got to stay home from school. I loved that cool microphone that Gene had. Very state-of-the-art for then. I still watch these on the Game Show channel on cable- I most like to watch for the period aspect- hair, clothes, prizes, non-pc behavior, smoking on camera, etc. I was watching an old Let's Make A Deal and the contestant won the grand prize, which was a BRAND NEW GREMLIN, RETAIL VALUE $2000!!! A crappy car to be sure, but a fond memory of when cars cost less and had less techno crap to break. Back then you could do so many more repairs yourself. We should also talk about shows like Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin- both of them featured jazz artists from time to time like Jack Sheldon, Frank Rosolino, etc. I sure miss the Tonight show that I grew up with. I think that hearing that band every night helped turn me into a jazz fan. It's so lame now. You Don't Say- that was hosted by Tom Kennedy, right? I liked him. bertrand Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I once saw an episode of Groucho's You Bet Your Life where the guest contestants were George Bernard Shaw (in the winter of his life) and the up-and-coming comedienne, Phyllis Diller. Talk about a match-up! Quote
