mikeweil Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 This isn't yet listed on Chesky's website, I have it from SA-CD.net. Does anybody here know who's playing organ and drums on this date? I'm not a Coryell fan, but I might go for this ... Quote
Soul Stream Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 From the picture it looks like Sam Yahel on organ. Quote

CJ Shearn Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 been a fan of Coryell since I saw him live, and he took time out by his own initiative to talk to me between sets. I will definitely be getting this Quote
Soul Stream Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Looks good...just not sure if we need another version of Impressions.... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Or "Come Rain Or Come Shine" or "Embraceable You". Quote
randissimo Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Or "Come Rain Or Come Shine" or "Embraceable You". what gives with all the standards?? they trying for the blue hair jazz society summer park gigs? Quote
randyhersom Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 they trying for the blue hair jazz society summer park gigs? Just trying to imagine Keith Jarrett's interaction with that crowd... Coryell seems to have been moving toward the mainstream for some time now, and it doesn't look like even half of the CD is standards. And, they got to be standards for a reason. Quote
Claude Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) Or "Come Rain Or Come Shine" or "Embraceable You". what gives with all the standards?? they trying for the blue hair jazz society summer park gigs? Chesky, like most audiophile labels, has a rather conservative music policy. http://www.chesky.com Edited April 1, 2008 by Claude Quote
Lazaro Vega Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Yes, but they rolled the dice on Grachan Moncur and have an ambitious series with the Mark Master's ensemble (especially the Lee Konitz record). Quote
mr jazz Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I heard an interview with Larry Coryell recently and he said this cd was a tribute to Jimmy Smith-I liked what I heard and Coryell is a great storyteller. I just wished I could have made it to Blues Alley to see him as it was a celebration of his 65th birthday. Quote
