Soul Stream Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Super cool!!!! Man...Mel looks so good...what a badass. What a master and still keeping current after all these years, amazing. Quote
jimi089 Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Mel was scheduled to do an organ duel with Dr. Lonnie last fall in Chicago but he backed out. I haven't seen him in ages, thanks for posting that. Quote

I haven't seen him in ages, thanks for posting that. Mel's a great guy...I see him at least once a week. I did a zillion photos during the recording of the cd....lots of fun. I've know all the guys in the band for years. The video was shot at the Jazz Kitchen. I'll see him tomorrow evening....I'll let him know he still has some fans out there....I'm sure he'll just say "cool"! m~ Quote

Although to hear him and Lonnie play music together would be wonderful! Quote

sheldonm Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Nice do. ...probably doing everything with it he can! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 FWIW, I did not like the silly video at all. Quote
brickbrick Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Could anyone please tell me where I might find Mel Rhyne's itinerary? I've been wanting to see him live for quite awhile ( I first heard him on Boss Tenor several years ago). The couple of videos on youtube of him don't suffice. I'd be very appreciative if I could get information on his whereabouts. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 10, 2009 Author Report Posted September 10, 2009 He lives in Indianapolis and plays The Jazz Kitchen and The Chatterbox regularly. Check their schedules. Quote
robertoart Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 Just found this video on youtube! A nice recent snippet of Mel Rhyne and Calvin Keys. Quote
mikeweil Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) That Dixon-Rhyne CD is nice, although I think a bit heavy in the low frequency range. But Rhyne rules, even in this idiom. Edited October 11, 2012 by mikeweil Quote
