C.C. Sabathia pitches another complete game & remains undefeated as a Brewer.

Yes but what has he really done for them aside from keep them from falling even further out of the division race, and possibly out of the wild card, too?

Hmmm... based on the responses, Dan, I think you need to borrow this:

All I'm saying is that they are mostly just hanging around the postseason chase; its not like he's put them in a great position. Mostly he's kept them in contention because without him they're nowhere, yet with him, they may make golf reservations in October anyway.

Egad, can the Rangers season get any worse? Kinsler out (one of the better bats); pitching continues to get worse; lost 11 of their last 13 with no relief (pun sorta intended) in sight; ERA headed for the stratosphere....

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Back to reality again.

After this latest fucking debacle is their any doubt whatsoever that Wakefield was needed YESTERDAY and that Clay Buchholz should not be allowed to pitch a single meaningful inning the rest of the season?

And with the piece of shit bullpen in the game this early, what will the final be? 12-5? 15-6?

And what are the fucking odds that the Rays will come back and complete their sweep of the Angels?

You're too generous! I don't want him tossing fucking wiffleball batting practice at this point. This guy makes Derek Lowe look like the fucking terminator. Sew his vagina up and ship his ass out of town.

You could be following the A's. They just dropped their 11th series in a row. Last time they did that they weren't even in Oakland but in Kansas City in 1960.

Can't say I blame the players but the team quit when the A's management said while we have a fun scrappy team they really aren't contenders so lets cut our losses and trade our #1 and # 2 starters. The Swisher and Haren trades from last year worked out great, this year the Harden and Blanton trades so far have sucked. Baseball is a business but for the fans and in this case for the players also it isn't good.

Top it off Duke left yesterday with a hip injury, 30 yr old pitcher coming off major hip surgery last year, not good.

Even though its a rebuilding year its depressing to see your team go from 12 games over 500 to 12 under 500 in six weeks.

I am not watching this crap anymore till some interesting calls up get a start later in the year.

At least the Rangers are exciting to watch hit.

Hey, lets have a pissing contest for which team is worst! Perhaps we can have a 3-4 way tie! :tup The Braves are 56-71, 15 games under .500. The last time they were 15 or more games under .500 was 1990. I heard Pete Van Wieren say that in the last 75 games, they are 28-47, 19 games under .500! That's pretty bad, in case you didn't know that!

In 20 games since the trade from the Angels, Casey Kotchman is hitting .157 He had been tearing the cover off the ball right before the trade. He missed the game last night because his Mom has been ill, perhaps that is a reason why he hasn't been playing too well?(Plus he was sick and Booby insisted on playing him anyway-Cox said this himself)

I think the team has hit 8 homers for the month of August. All but one of the starting pitchers from the start of the year are injured the 8th and 9th inning guys have been injured all year, the starting left fielder(Matt Diaz) was not hitting, and hurt his knee months ago, and still hasn't come back(And Steinbrenner has never seen a team with as many injuries as the Yankees? ) Francoeur had a 3 and 4 hit game last week to bring his average all the way up to .230....and now Cox will no doubt run Jair Jurrjens in the ground(Most innings of his career, and still 5-6 weeks to go) Steve Avery Jr they should call him.

Just no fun to watch. No call ups worth a damn, traded so many folks to the Rangers. We are supposed to have a few swell arms in A and AA, but they won't show up til next spring.

Sad to read how little hope B3 and AL have in their teams right now, when they were so high on them earlier in the year. Heck, as Van Wieren pointed out on the radio, the braves were a better team than the Mets earlier this year when they beat them 7 out of 9 games. Now we look like a AAA team. The Giants even beat us up! :(

Their away record early on may have been one sign of what was to come. Injuries have really ... hurt (ouch!) I guess. It's odd to think of the Braves without a well-stocked minor league system of guys they can plug in. ... It was a good run though :excited:

A Worst-team Series would have to be between the Mariners, who will be the first eliminated from the playoffs, and the Padres, who are the worst team in the worst division in baseball. (Although the Nationals technically have the worst record in baseball, the NL West factor gives the nod to the Pads).

Well the news is improving today - Buchholz was sent all the way down to AA Portland, to work with the pitching coach who supposedly knows his stuff best, and Lugo had a setback in his rehab and with any luck at all won't even be physically able to perform before next season, when he will be modeling a Pirates uniform.

The Rangers are far from the worst team. In fact, and I've said this all season: the Rangers are, at best, a .500 team and they've been hovering around that all year. Yeah, the last 14 games have been a drag to watch (except last night), but by and large this is all par for the course.

A few baseball die-hards around here, who are far tougher than I've ever been on the Rangers, actually feel that the Rangers are but one arm and a decent manager away from being contenders. Hell, even I'M not that optimistic.

(Uh um.) Mariner fan here.

Game over!

Playing .365 baseball. In their inaugural (whew, spelling is hard) season they played at an awesome .395 pace (64 wins.) Franchise worst was the next year (56 W, .350.) At least they've cleared out Vidro & Richie. Though honestly, I know this kind of soft talk doesn't happen much around here, but they seemed like decent fellows even if they weren't playing well, so it's not like I'm overjoyed that they're gone. (Richie was a fine actor in the promo spots. :)) I've never been a fan of Ibanez (mainly because of what they paid him) but truth is he's been pretty damn good, downright great since the All-Star break. Without him they'd probably be < .350. Felix has games that make you shake your head, then you realize again that he's just 22. Land sakes, this is his 4th season! (First was a partial.)

Gonna have to live with the heartwarming memory of the '95 WC series for awhile me thinks. And "borrow" other teams to root for on a season-by-season basis. Turnarounds (& collapses) can happen quickly in the majors so I can still dream of something better for the M's next year. :)

Oh boy. Drew diagnosed with a herniated disc. What a fucking asshole that Brian Giles is for refusing to come to a pennant contender. It'll really piss the fucking hell out of me if we don't have the offense to at least hang on to the wild card, but Jesus Christ, there's no fucking way we can win with Coco and Varitek's anemic bats in the lineup.

Have to smile; I just read this as the Jays made their pitching change in the top of the 6th. duh2.gif

I haven't looked at the numbers to verify this, but it seems as though the Rays' offense has improved significantly since Longoria and Crawford went down with injuries. Baldelli hit his first home run of the season tonight. Nice to see. And the Rays were tagging the ball from top to bottom tonight. Everyone in the lineup had a hit except for Upton.

Nice win.
