Roger Powell Joins Us, Maneige Reissue, Jeff Beck Tonight

Join us for program 1049 as we feature an exclusive interview with keyboardist, electronic wizard and pioneer Roger Powell. Roger joins us to discuss his 2007 release Fossil Poets which features Gary Tanin and Greg Koch.

We'll feature new music from Dark Suns and the Grave Human Genunine CD. We'll also feature new music from Kingfisher Sky titled Hallway Of Dreams. We'll also feature new live music from Izz and Nearfest 2007, and a recent reissue from the Canadian band Maneige.

Our 4th Hour Space Out will feature music from Quantum Fantay and their recent release Ugisiunsi.

You can't remember "great" albums? How old are you?

Hold on! I'm thinking of a different record.

My database shows that I have one Maneige album, called Les Porches. A review of the CD websites indicates that Maneige was a Quebec prog rock group, and that Les Porches was, it looks like, their second album.

In the early 80s, I purchased a pretty fair number of $2.00 cutout prog rock albums from a mail order company named Wayside Music which was run by Steve Feigenbaum, who is now better known as the owner/operator of Cuneiform Records.

One of them was the Maneige record. However, the album that I think so highly of was another purchase from Wayside by another Quebec prog rock group. Both the group and the album were called Aquarelle.

The Aquarelle album reminds me of the album that came out in 2006 by the Jeff Gauthier Goatette called One and the Same on the Cryptogramophone label. (Gauthier is the founder of Cryptogramophone.)
