Chuck Nessa Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 If it is legit you should be able to find it on the Microsoft site. If it ain't there, avoid it. Quote
mgraham333 Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 No special software is required to prevent windows messenger spam. You can simply disable the windows messenger service. It can be used to pass messages to friends and co-workers. If you turn the service off, you will not get these messages. You may wish to check with your distributed IT provider before disabling Windows Messenger service so that you do not inadvertently disable a service that your department uses. source: http://www.auburn.edu/oit/security/messeng...gerService.html Quote

Christiern Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 I never even entered the lobby, sad to say. Quote
wolff Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Acually I think it is legit. I installed free ZoneAlarm and have not seen it since. Microsooft recommended ZoneAlarm as opposed to disabling messenger. Quote
mgraham333 Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 I run ZoneAlarm Pro as well and have not had to disable windows messenger. I haven't tried many software firewalls, but would have no problems recommending this one. Quote
