The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 How do you get around the size limit for pics? (I know about thumbnailing, but I want a bigger pic.) Weizen and others upload their photos to Photobucket http://photobucket.com/ which is free. Then they link to those photos, just as when you're posting an album sleeve off the web. MG Quote
Shrdlu Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Thanks, MG. Photobucket won't let me sign up. Its software thinks that my email addy is a fake, spam one. They have good taste - I wouldn't let me join either. So, you guys will have to live without my nice pics taken at Banff, Alberta last March. Quote

Google "image hosting services" and I think there are quite a few. I'm sure one or two members here use other services than Photobucket. Alternatively, you can take a recommendation from a fellow board member - Serioza used http://farm3.static.flickr.com for his photos above. And Rockefeller Centre used http://omploader.org for his. Shrdlu Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Nice hat, too MG Thanks, MG! I have several hats, including a shallow porkpie like Prez's. Will post them if the board is modified to accept a picture gallery, like Myspace etc. The hat in the pic was stolen by a chick in a club about three weeks ago, lol. The next week, she fessed up and I told her she could keep it if she would wear it. The girls drive me mad, wanting to wear my hats in the clubs. Two stolen so far, and a couple more were hard to grab back. Why can't people buy their own hats? Edited December 30, 2009 by Shrdlu Quote
rostasi Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 My work is play (Linz, Austria): The Ars Electronica Center reflecting on the Danube - 40,000 LED lights that slowly (or quickly, depending...) shift colors: Closer view of the front: From the back during an outdoor concert: The side of the Lentos Kunstmuseum - notice the museum's name etched in the glass: The view outside my hotel window on the one rainy night during my stay: Quote
Chalupa Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 I stumbled upon John Rudoff's photos that he took of the Philadelphia and Newport Folk Festivals circa 64-65. The colors(and the subjects) are just amazing. Dylan fans take note - probably the only known color photos of his '65 Newport appearance. http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnrudoff/sets/72157611490418013/ Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 What a difference 3 months makes... My first proper wander this year, out in the hills around Holmfirth between Sheffield and Manchester: Driving back and forth to work I'd got the impression spring was more advanced than it proved to be. Most trees only just showing signs of life up on't moors. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Thanks, Bill. I claim no photo skills, beyond selecting the scene to snap - it's all down to the camera and nature. My camera can do everything including make the tea but I still havn't got beyond the automatic stage, bar a few tricks. I had an SLR about 30 years ago that was easier to focus and get control over depth of field but I find that quite hard (my brain can't cope with remembering which way round f-stops go!). It might be that my eyesight has deteriorated and so I can't make out what is being shaped in the viewfinder. On the plus side far more photos come out as I want them; and there's no longer the huge cost of film and developing and the disappointment when the snaps come back and they are rubbish. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Snapped several quick photos 25 minutes ago while driving in DC. Nary a tourist in sight at the Lincoln Memorial and the Memorial Bridge entrance. Quote
