Why Are So Many Posters Here Hateful?

Every since I started posting here, I've been treated like crap by alot of people. I don't understand the hostility? I thought we're supposed to be a community, are we not? Apart of a community is being civil to each other, right?

I mean yeah I know I've probably said ALOT of stupid things, but we all have at some point in time. I just don't understand it here, I go and make a post and instead of some positive reinforcement I get told "Why don't you use the search function?" Well, I don't want to use the search function. Why can't somebody just respond with something positive?

I've been called alot of bad names here and I haven't even done anything to anybody, I really don't get it. Can anyone tell me a jazz forum besides this one and AAJ that I could go to where the people are nicer?

I hope Jim Alredson is reading this....

Yeah, sorry to say, but this can be a very inhospitable place sometimes if you're a newcomer or a conservative. More than a few have been driven away.

You seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot around here, and that brings out the sharks.

Has it occurred to you that many of your posts are offensive and infantile? Has it occurred to you that this is not the first BBS to wish you would go away? Do you recall that you yesterday said you were out of here, but you came back? Perhaps the plece for you is the Wynton Marsalis site's forum--oh, that's right, you were already there today. I wonder if you can contain yourself at that holy shrine and, if not, if they'll give you the boot?

If you want to know why you are given the cold shoulder here (and elsewhere), try re-reading your own posts--and if it still does not sink in, you might ask any person of moderate intelligence to read for you.

Just change the search from "entire post" to "title." It narrows down the thread results of a search quite a bit.

I don't care if something about Stan Kenton has been posted x amount of times. I have a right to post and start new discussions do I not? What's so wrong with that?

Van Basten, those comments I made about Canadians was made out of anger. I was pissed.....Aggie87 acts like he's perfect and has never posted anything he regrets.

I got here right around when you did, (someday it will be remembered as the great jazz message board migration of ought eight,) and I have to say that combing through the archives here has been awesome. As newcomers around here we are entering a conversation that began awhile ago. It doesn't seem that rude to me to have people refer you to previous conversations that answer your questions. If you don't have time to read a forum, what's the point of posting a question in the first place?
