sidewinder Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 It'll probably win.. Eurovision Sng Contest Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Bling when you're minging!!!!! I MAY actually watch that! MG Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 The country's 2007 entry, Dervish, came last. Dustin will be hoping to change all that in Belgrade. Dervish are a marvellous traditional band. I'm not quite sure what they cooked up for 2007 Eurovision to suffer such ignominy! It's a long time since the early 80s when Planxty did the interval spot at Eurovision! And I don't suppose it helps Martin Carthy's chances of representing England. Maybe Basil Brush! Quote
JohnS Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 The turkey will stand a good chance of winning if past contests are anything to go by. Quote
sidewinder Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 I think I'll put a bet on the turkey this year ! Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 It's a long time since the early 80s when Planxty did the interval spot at Eurovision! A rare abberation of taste (to good, that is). Up to a point. The piece they performed was called 'Timedance' - a three part suite-type thing that went from the mystic Celtic to 18th C drawing room to folk rock. On keyboards...and involved in the arrangement, I suspect - was a Bill Whelan who'd been providing 'extra' instruments for a while. A few years down the line Whelan had broadened the concept into a full stage show. Thus, 'Riverdance'! He became very rich. Quote
Tom Storer Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 I have the CD of the turkey song! The music gets very old in about two seconds flat, but the lyrics are hilarious. "We're sick of Riverdance, Flatley is a Yank..." Quote
