7/4 Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 The monolog from Craig Ferguson had a bit of Danish tonight. Man, he cracks me up. Quote
tonym Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 It sounds like a bit of an idyllic place to me! I've a friend who's been working there now for almost two years in an area around Kalumdborg (sp?). He and his wife both cycle and immediately commented on the (typical) European attitude toward two wheeled transport. ie. you get respect! Relaxing, tolerant and courteous were also adjectives in abundance. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but the above town recently had a branch of McDonald's close down due to lack of custom. That's the sort of place I'd like to live. Quote
AllenLowe Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Chewy misses the good old days of the Reichstag fire - beautiful big breasted fraulein roasting marshmallows beneath the Berlin moon; the smell of burning books in the morning; happy youth with their heads held high in the Aryan wind - hell, I miss those days myself - Quote
Christiern Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Kalundborg. Close enough. BTW the Danish film from which stem the great Louis Armstrong performances we so often see, I Cover the Waterfront, Dinah, Tiger Rag, is "København-Kalundborg." It was released in 1934, filmed the year before. That film also featured other orchestras, including Erik Tuxen's (he is mentioned in the review that kicks off the Carl Nielsen thread): Quote
