mgraham333 Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 (edited) I contacted CDU Customer Support and they adjusted the Louis Smith price on my order. They also said that they would be updating the site soon to reflect it as a domestic title instead of an import (and from $11.15 to $9.60). They updated their site. Price is $9.60 Edited February 18, 2008 by mgraham333 Quote
T.D. Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 6.99 at J&R Lon, do you know how long this J&R sale will go on? I'd like to wait a few days, until the next credit card billing period. I get so many e-mails from them that I (as often happens) deleted the most recent one w/o reading. Missed out on the big $4.99 weekend-only event because I waited too long. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) No I don't know. . . but it's a preorder and I don't think your card will be charged until the shipping date. . . . Edited February 16, 2008 by jazzbo Quote
T.D. Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 No I don't know. . . but it's a preorder and I don't think your card will be charged until the shipping date. . . . Aha, a way out! There are also (BTW) a bunch of OJCs @ $6.99, but I'll mix in some March Blue Note reissues and specify no shipping until everything is filled. Thanks. Quote
mjzee Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I ordered the Jimmy Smiths and the Ike Quebec from CDU. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 When will they get beyond the obvious and start releasing the cool stuff? Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Jutta Hipp is not Les Baxter, or even Martin Denny Anyone got a UK release date for this lot? I need to upgrade my cheapo Baby Grand CD pronto. MG Quote
king ubu Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 So how are those Baby Grands? Are they as great, wild, freaking crazy, as the Groovin' at Smalls set? That one's still THE best ever Smith did, in my opinion! So much going on in there! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 So how are those Baby Grands? Are they as great, wild, freaking crazy, as the Groovin' at Smalls set? That one's still THE best ever Smith did, in my opinion! So much going on in there! They are WILD! Mostly very UP-tempos! And THE perfect Bop organ trio. And a great audience. I have 6 of the 8 tracks on a cheapo comp, so I'm really looking forward to getting these RVGs. Gonna give that comp one last shot before I get the newies! MG Quote
CJ Shearn Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 oh yeah, the terrible "Giants of Jazz: Immortal Concerts" CD. I had that, I now have the TOCJ 1500 series versions of volumes 1&2 on CD, how are the RVG's compared to those soundwise? Quote
jmjk Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 (edited) oh yeah, the terrible "Giants of Jazz: Immortal Concerts" CD. I had that, I now have the TOCJ 1500 series versions of volumes 1&2 on CD, how are the RVG's compared to those soundwise? CJ, I can't speak specifically for these JOS titles, but whenever I A-B'd the TOCJ 1500 series against an RVG in the past, the 1500s sounded better to me. The imports seemed a bit warmer , and the stereo separation seemed nicer also. I don't even bother upgrading the TOCJ 1500 titles I have, if they happen to be released stateside as RVGs. CJ Shearn Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 thanks jmjk. Well these are mono so the stereo thing wouldn't be a factor. Quote
mjzee Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 I got my order today from CD Universe. The jewel cases on 2 of the 3 were cracked. Grrr... Quote
jazzbo Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 If you call them or email them, they'll send you replacement cases. Quote
Bluesnik Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 (edited) Jutta Hipp is obvious? Jutta Hipp is not (so) obvious but this was a Conn not too long ago. i have it. they could have gone for her 5000 series session or for any of her Hickory House trio dates (which i also have ). Swinging Swede Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 The extra material from Baby Grand is missing from the tape vaults. It's like Stanley Turrentine's Minton's recordings with Grant Green. Only what was originally released exists. Or has been located so far; we can hope that it is misfiled somewhere and eventually will turn up. Quote
Tjazz Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Looks like BMGmusic club will have these BLUE NOTE RVGs within a month. (yourmusic too?) Quote
