Larry Kart Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 That Getz-Coltrane encounter on "Rifftide" (with Oscar Peterson, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb) is fun. Must have been about 1958? Quote
Swinging Swede Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Düsseldorf, 1st April 1960 (and that is not a joke!). It was supposed to be a Miles Davis Quintet set, but for some reason Miles didn't show up, so Coltrane performed as the sole horn with the rhythm section. This was part of a Jazz At The Philharmonic tour, and perhaps to compensate for Miles's absence, Getz joined the group at the end for two numbers and Peterson replaced Wynton Kelly for one. Quote
