analogak Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 i guess i found one man's journey (get it?!?!?!) more interesting than a city's journey. and from what i know of the issues in both shows, i felt like the wire was written by people who didn't know their subjects that well. the show was an ill mix of "TV" and realism. the sopranos kept a more interesting tone throughout and seemed more true to its subject matter. and even if it wasn't truer, i didn't feel that bad mix i felt with the wire. kinuta Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Someone gave me the series one dvd set as a gift and I was hooked. I've watched ever series, some of them twice, and think it's certainly one of the best things ever made for American tv. I sometimes found the continuity and dialogue a bit tough but loved every show. The finale didn't disappoint me at all, it was apt that it should end like that. A neatly tied up conclusion would have betrayed the whole spirit of the show. Quote

A neatly tied up conclusion would have betrayed the whole spirit of the show. The ending to me was showing that the game remains the same, only the players change. Michael becomes the new Omar, Sidnor as the new McNulty, Carver as the new McDaniels, Dukie as the new Bubbles, etc. When seaon 5 comes out on dvd I'm definitely getting that(I have 1-4) and the watch the whole thing again. take5 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 i felt like the wire was written by people who didn't know their subjects that well. Man, that's really off the mark. The creators of the show are a journalist and a cop that worked the area, wrote stories based on real events and people, and even cast some people that did some of the stuff portrayed in the show.
