papsrus Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 I always sort of thought of Lupica as a 12-year-old trapped in a 50-year-old man's body. Then again, maybe that's what the Daily News wants. One would have to assume. Quote
T.D. Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Yeah, Lupica is awful, but the Daily Ruse is a truly horrid paper, even by tabloid standards. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 I must confess, I don't get the story at all. How did switching his topic screw another writer? Quote
Larry Kart Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Because he switched to the topic that she already was writing about, and that, because he was top dog, forced her to start all over with a new topic on deadline. And there's no way he could do this without knowing what he was doing. Quote
Larry Kart Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 I should add that journalistic procedure requires that every sports columnist address a different topic in his or her post-game column. The idea is that the reader won't accept two columns in one day on the same topic. So if there are, as always is the case with a major paper, several sports columnists present, it's all decided or parceled out (based on pecking orders plus common sense) before anyone begins to write. And deadlines are tight. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 she had been researching the topic for a week. Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 A friend of mine once wrote a critical email to Lupica (nothing obscene). HIs response was to tell my friend to "get on with your dreary little life." Since the paper no longer prints his email address, I get the feeling that the little jerk got more negative emails than he could handle. Somehow he's bullied his way into the front of the paper where he now has a political column every Wednesday. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Because he switched to the topic that she already was writing about... Ah. Got it. Quote
