(besides that: don't think i will need those links) (is this really the next batch of Keepnews reissues ? some new strategy?) (it says "Fantasy" on the cduniverse page...?) Quote
mgraham333 Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 I suspect they're either RVG Remasters or Keepnews Collection (I'm not at home otherwise I'd check the engineer/producer on these to shed some light). Concord site doesn't mention them yet. Quote
HolyStitt Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 I assume Keepnews Collection since they were all originally on Riverside. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 I haven't got the Cannonball in NY, so that should get on my list. MG Quote
alexk Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Dammit, I need all of them! By the way, how much are those Keepnews Collection CDs in record shops? Here in Greece while OJCs and RVGs are standard mid-price (6.90 euros) the Keepnewses sell for 9.90 euros... I wonder why... Quote
JSngry Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Kean, we want Kean, where the fuck is Kean? Quote
John L Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 It is probably worth upgrading, if for no other reason than to get O.K.'s new insightful comments about the instrumental role that he played in making each and every one of these sessions a success. Quote
mikeweil Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Kean, we want Kean, where the fuck is Kean? Buried deep in some cave, guarded by Iron Mountain - I'm afraid Keepnews doesn't remember that session, although it certainly was a great idea in the first place. Or maybe the tapes are lost. I'm anxiously awaiting my LP copy ... Quote
king ubu Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 What about the third Coltrane box? Quote
mikeweil Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Fuhgeddaboutit ..... and: if Keepnews continues at this pace, we will never get a comprehensive Riverside collection. Quote
king ubu Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Fuhgeddaboutit ..... yeah, I know... but I keep hoping against all odds... Quote

On the one hand, it's nice that albums like "Blue Soul" and "Adderley in NY" are finally getting some kind of sonic upgrade. On the other hand...... what, isn't this the 2nd or 3rd sonic upgrade for the other three? I know for a fact that the Evans and the Bags/Wes discs have been released as K2's and Hybrid SACD's. But I guess it's like John L said, it's worth it to have OK's "insightful comments" about the sessions. Quote
