Dan Gould Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Seriously. And I ran out of the solution a long time ago. Am I officially out of the fraternity for treating my LPs with this device? Please don't tell me to purchase any of those big record cleaning machines. Its only slightly less likely than me spending more than a couple of hundred dollars on a turntable. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 (edited) It works great for records that are generally clean to begin with. I use one. For secondhand records that have layers of mystery substances, though, you need something more substantial. You can get the solution easily. Or, just use distilled water. sidewinder Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 An ethyl alcohol and distilled water mix should do the trick - very economically. Quote

Teasing the Korean Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Just go easy on the alcohol - not more than 50% when mixed with water. Quote
sidewinder Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 1 part alcohol to about 3 parts water should be OK. Quote
porcy62 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 A propos Sidewinder, did you try L'art du Son? Quote
sidewinder Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 A propos Sidewinder, did you try L'art du Son? Not yet Porcy - but should be ordering some soon. My RRL solution is about to run out ! Quote

My RRL solution is about to run out ! Let me know. I still use Miracle Doctor stuff, I am pretty happy with it until now, but I am asking myself if there is something that can remove the stuff that Miracle Doctor couldn't. That would mean that I should start an A to Z cleaning cylcle of my collection again. As Dan as pointed out we're vinylheads. Edited January 25, 2008 by porcy62 Quote
Brandon Burke Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 alcohol is a bad idea as an agent in your cleaning solution, as it can can cause the leaching of plasticizers over time. seriously.. Quote
