king ubu Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 now that's strange - ten minutes ago I could not access the board! hope it stays well and healthy! ubu Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 We don't know who did it, but we're not completely sure it was a direct attack on this site personally. According to Ken, our server guru, a couple of sites he hosts got attacked. We're looking into where it came from (ie, through us or through another site on thechain's roster). In any case, we're here! Quote
Use3D Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Yeah we're here, and Masterhit is PISSED. He does the H4><0r1|\|6 around here. Quote
EKE BBB Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Great to see this board´s back without any damage (as far as I can see).... regretfully, it wasn´t the same for AAJ! Quote
shawn·m Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 It seems odd that AAJ and Organissimo would be hit within two weeks of each other. Assuming it was a direct attack, I wonder if the hacking bastards hate everything jazz, or just Stanley Crouch. Well, here’s to hoping the chumps find new meaning in life, once behind bars with muscle-bound Bubba. Quote
mikeweil Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Maybe it was a hackers gang called the brazilian bluenote badboys Quote
Simon Weil Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 (edited) Yeah, it seemed odd to me that the day allaboutjazz came back up, organissimo was brought down. And, apparently the result of hacking. But coincidences do happen. Anyway... It's good to have the site back. Simon Weil Edit: A google search brings up all sorts of sites that Securinfos has attacked with more or less the same message. There's also one, in German, where the site thanks Securinfos for helping deal with the attack on it. There was a golf site etc... 2nd Edit: This is the first page of a site that lists 750 attacks by Securinfos. They appear to have started on 26th May (see last page.) Jim Alfredson Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 As bluenoter posted in a thread over on AAJ, the fellows who left their mark here called themselves Securinfos. They hail from Brazil and are not anti-jazz but anti-American. The attack on this site was part of a much larger attack on my host's numerous sites. I talked to the server admin tonight and he said several of his sites got hit. They probably hit us because we get so much traffic around here. Thank God they were not as malicious as the ones that attacked AAJ. But like I said, I do weekly backups. Quote
Matthew Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Great to have Organissimo back on the air! Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Wow, I had not expected to have the board back up so quickly. Thanks Jim!!!! Free For All called me last night (we both live in Kansas City), and said: hey man, sumpthins gone real bad with the board. Well, I'm real glad it was so short-lived. Quote

Sure it was Brazilian, not from Spain??? Lots of folks have badmouthed this label.... Just kidding!!! Most likely it was Kenny G. No one hates jazz more than he does! Quote
Joe G Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 I'm suprised to see it back so soon, too. I logged on just before bed last night, saw that freaky screen and immediately called Jim, who was in Chicago at the time. He couldn't do anything about it from there except call the server guy. I don't know what happened after that, but I'm glad to know that it wasn't a personal attact on us at least. Unless those boys are pissed that we don't have a Brazilian jazz forum... Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 You can count me as one who found it very curious that this board was hit just as AAJ came back up. Very surprised (pleasantly) to find everything back and none the worse. Just imagine if Johnny had found that creepy image when he gets online today ... if Johnny couldn't post, what would he do? What would he do? Quote

I'm awfully happy to see you back up today! Quote

jacman Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 i had some friends look into it last night (they are admins on a drum forum). here's the host's website if anyone's interested. http://ww2.hpg.ig.com.br/ Quote

BruceH Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Great to have Organissimo back on the air! Amen to that!! It was kind of scary seeing that hacker crap come up on screen. Quote
RonF Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 I was just looking at a forum and saw the "Demon" again. Logged off and this time nothing. Is the hacker lurking? Or embedded? Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 The image was probably still in your cache file. Now that it has refreshed, you won't see it again. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 i think norah jones had something to do with it...... Quote
