Eberhard Weber - 'Yellow Fields.'

Totally different in instrumentation and completely lacking in 'blues' feel but has that same spacey, taking your time feel as KOB.

Perhaps 'In A Silent Way' would be a closer reference point.

Coltrane's Atlantic albums would probably suit somebody who is into "KOB."

Coltrane's album "Ole" comes to mind. A very fine album. Another one that comes to mind is "Jazz Impressions of Japan" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Stylistically, it's different from KOB, however they have an similiar feeling overall. At least to my ear. Two underrated albums in my book.

If you like "Kind of Blue," I would check out "Somethin' Else" by Cannonball Adderley. Also, any of Coltrane's Atlantic albums would probably suit somebody who is into "KOB."

Yes, I've long thought of Something Else as the next best thing to having another Miles Davis album.

Some of the early Jan Garbarek albums, with or without Keith Jarrett, have a similarly spacey feel - with the blues replaced to a large extent by the Nordic folk music tradition.

Bev,

As pervasively influential as KOB has become, I would not be surprised if ECM was influenced by Miles' less is more approach. Part of the ECM aesthetic is Manfred Eicher's recording technique. I'm not quite sure how he does it, but it's utterly unique. A signature as recognizable as RVG's.

Up over and out.
