WD45 Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 It's funny, whenever I pick up a bass, I immediately play in his style. I sound like a mix of Casady and Phil Lesh (late '60s early '70s eras). That's not a bad thing at all! Quote
bertrand Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Jack Casady is definitely my favorite electric bassist in any style of music. I much prefer him to Jaco. Bertrand. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Couw, Bertrand, I'm with you on that. I really love Casady's playing on Crown of Creation and Blows Against the Empire. To me, that's some fine bass playin'. I always loved that photo on the back of the Hot Tuna lp, Burgers. I used to think (when I was a kid), now that's the life, living down by the beach, having a cool old car, and wearing the coolest hippie clothes around. That was pretty much my look at 18. Quote
Ron S Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 wearing the coolest hippie clothes around. That was pretty much my look at 18. Be honest, Dude. That's pretty much your look NOW. Quote

Joe Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 I prefer couw's cover, actually, but, since the work is done... Quote
Ron S Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Hmmmm . . . nice looking cover, but I'm not sure I get the connection between "Iron City" and the Brooklyn Bridge. Quote
Ron S Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Jeff, here's an "Iron City" image for you--straight from Pittsburgh: Quote
7/4 Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Jeff, here's an "Iron City" image for you--straight from Pittsburgh: Wow, it's a pre-CBS steel can. Complete with rust! Quote
AfricaBrass Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Hmmmm . . . nice looking cover, but I'm not sure I get the connection between "Iron City" and the Brooklyn Bridge. I live on the west coast, I don't know bridges. I just did a google search for bridges. Drat! Back to the drawing board. Quote

Actually, I figured it was okay to use the Brooklyn Bridge because I own it. I got a sweetheart of a deal on it. Quote

Ron S Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 (edited) That's nice, Jeff, but here's a more modern (and recognizable) one: Edited February 8, 2005 by Ron S Quote
