AfricaBrass Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Thanks RDK! Do you guys know any websites where I can get good photos for this thread? I've been looking around in Google images, but I'm not finding much. Thanks! Quote
JSngry Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 (edited) Not as hideous, but just as dumb... Edited September 18, 2003 by JSngry Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 I liked your 32 Jazz comment, Jim. B) We should have a contest to see who can make the best (worst!) 32 Jazz cover. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Thanks JSngry! Jim Dye, Great suggestion about the 32 jazz contest. Having just ate lunch, I don't know if I can participate. My mom always told me to wait 30 minutes before I went back in and designed horrific covers. :rsmile: Quote
JSngry Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Dude, I don't even have Photo Shop (way too expensive), just Paint Shop Pro (very affordable, bought it for my daughter), and I'd never messed with it until yesterday. If it's this easy for a total scrub like me to make some lame stuff that somehow looks like a real cover (no matter how bad a real cover it might be) just by cutting, pasting, and morphing, then professionals have NO excuse for turning out crappy covers! AfricaBrass Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 I'm supposed to be working. :rsmile: Quote
AfricaBrass Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Here's my take on The Ringer. This is fun! :rsmile: Quote
AfricaBrass Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Nice one, Joe! I'd love to hear that session. :rsmile: Quote
RDK Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 This is hideous! Dial "M" for Murder indeed! (just kiddin' - I shouldn't talk until I can contribute) Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted September 19, 2003 Author Report Posted September 19, 2003 How about the infamous... Tyrone Washington - "Train Wreck!!" (August, 1968), with Herbie Hancock Herbie Lewis Jack DeJohnette Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I was thinking about that earlier! There are plenty of old pictures of train wrecks around. Quote
Uncle Skid Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Here's a twist - Larry Young's MOTHERSHIP as a CTI! Maybe it's because I'm a child of the 70's, but I really think Mothership should look like this: Quote
JSngry Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I screwed up on the font size on Miles' name, and I don't know how to change it in Paint Shop without totally starting over, and I've spent enough time on it already, so forgive the amaturishness, but here's... Quote
JSngry Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 (edited) How about the infamous... Tyrone Washington - "Train Wreck!!" (August, 1968), with Herbie Hancock Herbie Lewis Jack DeJohnette Yeah, how about it? If it's REALLY that bad, it'll need some extra-special packaging to create a buzz, right? Joe Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Very late 70's, Muse-y, Jim!!! But be careful. You can take this whole revisionism thing TOO far. I mean, what if Guidi Tri-Arts continued to design the covers for Contemporary Records into the late 1960's? Quote
Kari S Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Mr. Sangrey, do us a favor and steer clear of that Photoshop, please. Just kidding... By the way, this is great fun! I gotta try my hand on some of those titles. Check out my "Mothership" at the other thread. And AfricaBrass - wow. Simply amazing work!! Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 B) B) B) B) LOL!!! B) B) B) B) You guys are too much! Quote
