JSngry Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 (edited) Could somebody take my NEFERTITI cover and resize the font on Miles' name? Is that possible? And maybe tweak the spacing on the rest of the text so it's better balanced? I'm REALLY digging the basic elements, but the specifics are driving me nuts. In other words, can we fix it in the mix? jazzbo Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 And replace that 1971 Miles head with something else! Quote
JSngry Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Sorry, but the head stays. I like the shirt. Quote

Jim Dye Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I was going to use a picture like this But now there is really no point after Sangrey's interpretation. Yowza! Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted September 19, 2003 Author Report Posted September 19, 2003 Anybody want to take this one on?? Andrew Hill - Chained (May, 1967), with... Ron Carter Teddy Robinson (dm) This session remains unreleased, although it was scheduled for release on King Records (out of Japan) as GXF-3080. I still often wonder about this session, and hope is does see the light of day sometime. Quote
mikeweil Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 (edited) I can clearly feel the message, but would like to see a "serious" take on the Train Wreck cover as well B) To complete the series of Blue Note sessions stranded on Black Lion, how about the Stanley Cowell Trio with Steve Novosel and Jimmy Hopps recorded at the same June 1969 stay in London as Tolliver's Ringer LP? It was called Travellin' Man Edited September 19, 2003 by mikeweil Quote
AfricaBrass Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Thanks for the compliment, Kari! I really like your Larry Young cover! I know this can't top Jim's Trainwreck cover, but here's my contribution. :rsmile: Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I'm diggin' that 1800's looking font, AB. It goes very well with the train! Quote
AfricaBrass Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Thanks Jim! I dug your Tolliver and Silver covers, too! :rsmile: Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Thanks Jim! I dug your Tolliver and Silver covers, too! :rsmile: I just had a couple of odd pictures that I found online and tried to incorporate them into a cover. They didn't really have anything to do with the artists or recording date. I just thought it would be an interesting challenge. I'm going to play around with Photoshop some more tonight when I get home from work. I find it very relaxing. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Keep em' coming, Jim! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I probably won't be able to make any more this weekend, but I'll check in to see what you come up with. As per Rooster's request, here's my take on Chained. Quote
.:.impossible Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 yikes. sorry guys. if for no other reason than the covers presented here, these albums SHOULD definitely stay in the vaults. Quote
.:.impossible Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Of course I'm only kidding. Some of them are pretty good. I'm not spending too much time on any of these, but its fun. Here's an idea for THE RINGER. Label doesn't matter. Quote
.:.impossible Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Some of these are actually really good. Quote
Jim Dye Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Wow, AB! That Chained cover is outstanding! impossible, I really liked your takes on the Mothership cover. Especially the first one. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 whoa some of these covers are mindblowing! how about changing the circa 80's till now BN logo on some of them to the classic 60's ones with the catalog #'s in the oval? Quote
Indestructible! Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Africa Brass and Jim Dye, Damn! Those are both GREAT covers for "Brilliant Circles"! Hell, I'd buy any CD that had those covers on them... even if it was an album by "he who's name shall never be spoken"! I hope somebody at Blue Note is reading this thread...... Cheers, Shane Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted September 20, 2003 Author Report Posted September 20, 2003 I hope somebody at Blue Note is reading this thread...... Actually, I have given a passing thought to printing out color versions of the best covers from this thread, and sending them to Michael -- just for the heck of it. I probably won't, but the thought had crossed my mind, in terms of getting Michael to think again about the "Train Wreck", and "Chained", for possible release someday. Quote
JSngry Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Don't know if I'm gonna make it to FILLES or not... Quote
GA Russell Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 You guys have great talent! Quote
