3) Do you think jazz music has a safe and viable future within the music industry over the next 25 years? (Select One)

Yes

No

50/50

Or: Do you think humankind has a safe and viable future on the planet over the next 25 years?

:bwallace:

That's exactly what I said to my merchant banker when he shows me the estimates of long term investments.

Exactly which music college are we talking here? This is downright scary, I have to say. If you buy your "jazz" CDs at Starbucks some of these names may be familiar. Well, I did chip in a rather lengthy list of musicians... Let's hope somebody reads the lists. Or not...

Has this been posted to the other boards? Would like to know if they responded in as friendly a manner as we did.

Some less-than-nurturing responses here, yes, but if this is actually a "kollej" student he/she needs to learn how to approach integrating into a new (internet) community, in this case this board. He/she doesn't come off as being very articulate and by initially offering a limited scope of specific choices (instead of asking for input) displays his/her own lack of familiarity with the genre. All which leads one to the conclusion that this is someone looking for others to so their work for them. So the general response is what I would have expected.

If I was to direct a student here, they would be a lot more prepared to make a better first impression. :w

Ive set up a website containing a questionnaire and forum on the future of jazz music.

Im looking to find peoples opinions on the future of jazz music for a presentation at my music college.

The site address is http://www.freewebs.com/futureofjazzmusic/.

Thanks To All,

JAZZMAN123

sorry jazzman but this is a country music board, we just prefer to call it jazz

Imagine my surprise when I came across a refernece to "jazz mags" and it had nothing to do with JazzTimes or Downbeat...

I bet many young people thing "free jazz" is an illegal download.

For a lot of young people "latin" is a language spoken somewhere in Latin America, that's really scarying.

Didn't the Bush fool in the White House apologetically tell a South-of-the-border audience that he doesn't speak Latin?
