couw Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 your winrar will continue to function, just that there will be a pop up message each time you open it telling you to register Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 WINRAR actually stopped working for me, when the freebie license ran out. I use 7-zip, which seems to do quite a lot of things and IS free. http://www.7-zip.org/ MG Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted December 11, 2007 Author Report Posted December 11, 2007 oh ok thanks mg, yea that would be sweet if it contiues to work with a pop up message for me, otherwise ill try this 7 up program in 3 days! Quote
jazzstage Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 7 zip is great. It is all you really need for many kinds of compression. Dan Gould Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 I've used winrar forever and I don't even get a pop-up guilt box. Quote
mikeweil Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Another recommendation for 7-zip. Quote
WD45 Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 I love Extract Now. That sucker is lean and mean. Quote
Guest Bill Barton Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 I'd agree that 7 Zip is a good alternative. The only thing I don't care for is that you have to physically type in destination folders for unzipped files (or maybe I just haven't figured out how to get around that.) Same deal here on WinRar. I just get the the little pop-up that you have to close before using it. I don't know whether it makes a difference, but the PC I use to unzip files is not connected to the Internet. Quote
