Noj
If there's spicy sausage available, I'll opt for that instead of a hot dog. Other than that, I like mine with all the gut-wrenching works except for the pickles or relish. I'm not a fan of anything pickled. Sauerkraut ain't my thing either. Stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and with spicy mustard and grilled onions over the top.
vibes
wrapped in bacon 'bout time someone mentioned bacon. I love bacon on hot dogs. Grilled onions, mustard and pickles are my other usual toppings. The little lady is also a fan of hot dogs, so we have them frequently at home, and out if we're in a city that has them on the street. Dan Gould
never had bacon on dog. great idea! Nor had I, but I had a dog who loved bacon. Oh man ain't that the truth! In fact, when we make bacon with Sunday Brunch - not very often - we pour off the grease into a small glass and pour it over their dinner. Very healthy treat, highly recommended for dog owners. I mean hot french fries, mayonnaise and cold beer... maybe the doomday of my silhouette, but the resurrection day of my junkfoodness. Does it exist junkfoodness in english? Healthy! Man our dog basks in the smell alone and that's about all he'll get except maybe a scrap or two of that dried pork belly. After that glass o' grease I'll bet that Coltrane makes like Brotzmann out in the yard.

Free For All
I love hot dogs but try to avoid them these days because they are so high-calorie/high fat. Fat-free franks suck, I'm sorry. The Hebrew Nationals were/are quite tasty. The fully-loaded Chicago dog was/is a favorite. Vienna Beef, of course. Gold Coast, Petrillo's, Superdawg, Demon Dog Healthy Choice makes some turkey smoked sausage and kielbasa that are actually pretty good, and much lower in calories. Not the REAL thing, but closer than most.

Shrdlu
Your lunch looks fantastic, Lon. I've never been a big fan of le hot dog, really. French's "mustard" is one of the most disgusting substances ever made. Jay Leno said it well when they featured it and said "We may not be French, but we sure are yellow". jeffcrom
Didn't know this fine thread was here. I like dogs with a bunch of sauerkraut. I also like Chicago-style dogs with tomato, a pickle wedge, hot peppers, celery salt, and that weird fluorescent green relish they use - there's a place a couple of miles from my house run by a refugee from Chicago where I get those. He knows me well enough that he doesn't even scowl when I ask him to hold the mustard. There's a place on the way to the north Georgia mountains where I sometimes stop after hiking - they have a great dog with Vidalia onion relish. And on my October trip to Copenhagen, I discovered the joys of the Danish pølser - they often feature bacon (or bacon bits), mayonnaise-based sauces, and pickles - see below. If I sound like a heart attack waiting to happen, let me add that I don't eat hot dogs very often - but I go for quality when I do.
