Durium Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 MILES DAVIS Fifty years ago, on the 4th and 5th of December 1957, Miles Davis recorded the sound track for the film Ascenseur pour l'échafaud ( in the US known as Frantic or in England as Lift to the scaffold) ) A remarkable moment !! Ascenseur pour l' échafaud Keep swinging Durium Quote
John L Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Just the trumpet playing on Generique would have been enough to put Miles in the pantheon. Quote

AndrewHill Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Now let me show you... Nice pic! Never seen that one before. Concerning the album-one of my favorite Miles. Especially the echo! Quote
Van Basten II Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 The title symbolizes also what's happening with the board. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Is this 'Day in Paris' cd just a collection of tracks from 'Ascenseur' and ....? Quote
Serioza Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) few episodes from "Miles Davis story" about this chef-d'oeuvre Edited May 5, 2009 by Serioza Quote
WorldB3 Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Even though the Verve Original's re-issue is just the 10 track album version and even if you already own it in some other form its worth picking up just to hear the job they did on the remaster. Generique is sublime. Its probably the best sounding CD (US release anyways) from an audio standpoint in the whole Miles catalog. Quote
Popkin Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 The recent Criterion Collection edition of the film also has some really interesting special features concerning the recording. Quote
