Free For All Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 Congratulations, aloc! Glad to hear you're doing well. This was a tough year with all the changes in my life. I do like my new job a lot, although I'm still adjusting to life in Tallahassee- there are no gigs to be had in town and that's been kind of a drag. Plus, undertaking a complete "start-over" is not something I planned on doing at this stage of my life. All in all, though, I'm very grateful that I landed on my feet and I have faith that everything else will eventually work out. I know many here have faced adversity this year, and I hope there are some positive things to emerge from their experiences. Quote
Joe G Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 Musically, it's been a bit slow in terms of number of gigs this year, but there were some beautiful experiences for me - Tel Aviv, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Detroit Jazz Fest, the week I did with the Carl Allen/Rodney Whitaker Project, as well as some really fun nights at some of our regular haunts. Lots of small blessings along the way. Probably too many to count, since I always include things like nature sightings, companionship, a good meal, forgetting to move my car all day from a 2-hour zone but not getting a ticket, and other such things. More good than bad, in other words. :rsmile: Quote
Free For All Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 I need to also mention meeting Joe and Rachel at the Green Mill last spring......that was big fun! Quote
jazzbo Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 Aloc, congratulations and keep it up! This was not a good year for me, the nicest thngs that have happened to me this year have all been because of friends and famililes pitching in with love and assistance. Quote

Aw shucks. Glad to hear you're doing well. To quote ole 'Blue Eyes,' "it's been a very good year," both technologically and artistically. I've gotten on the right track in learning and blowing jazz. I've jumped into the 21st century with high speed internet and cell phone. Sometimes we have to take calculated risks. Quote
