Congratulations, aloc! Glad to hear you're doing well. :tup

This was a tough year with all the changes in my life. I do like my new job a lot, although I'm still adjusting to life in Tallahassee- there are no gigs to be had in town and that's been kind of a drag. Plus, undertaking a complete "start-over" is not something I planned on doing at this stage of my life.

All in all, though, I'm very grateful that I landed on my feet and I have faith that everything else will eventually work out.

I know many here have faced adversity this year, and I hope there are some positive things to emerge from their experiences.

Musically, it's been a bit slow in terms of number of gigs this year, but there were some beautiful experiences for me - Tel Aviv, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Detroit Jazz Fest, the week I did with the Carl Allen/Rodney Whitaker Project, as well as some really fun nights at some of our regular haunts.

Lots of small blessings along the way. Probably too many to count, since I always include things like nature sightings, companionship, a good meal, forgetting to move my car all day from a 2-hour zone but not getting a ticket, and other such things.

More good than bad, in other words. :rsmile:

Aloc, congratulations and keep it up!

This was not a good year for me, the nicest thngs that have happened to me this year have all been because of friends and famililes pitching in with love and assistance.

Really glad for you, Aloc.

As for me this year wasn't one of my best, but quoting a famous poet of ancient Greece:

I will survive

as long as I know how to love

I know I will stay alive

I've got all my life to live

I've got all my love to give

and I'll survive

I will survive

i said that to myself over and over more than 40 years ago when things were really really rough for me with but a thread of hope and it seems to have worked.

i pray it works for you, too.

Glad your're doing well, Aloc.

Hasn't been a very good year for me overall.

The trip back to Abaco is a highlight for sure.

Conn, you're taking steps to change your situation which is something of which to be proud. I think you have better days ahead for sure my friend!

And your Abaco pics were very interesting.

Thanks, you're a nice person and, if I were a believer of any religion, wich I am not, you'd be in my prayer. Well, you are in my heart whatever.

this first year of retirement has been a hoot. i dont ever want to work again. <_<

Damn right, Aloc!

As much as I enjoyed my job, I am still amazed at the magic of having no work obligations.

Now completing my third year of retirement and planning to enjoy the next years even more :P

how could i not mention meeting dozens of wonderful sensitive kind folks who share my passion and greatly exceed my knowledge of music at organissimo?

meeting fellow organissimo fanatics  is one of the really fine things in my life.

Aw shucks. :)

Glad to hear you're doing well.

To quote ole 'Blue Eyes,' "it's been a very good year," both technologically and artistically.

I've gotten on the right track in learning and blowing jazz.

I've jumped into the 21st century with high speed internet and cell phone.

Sometimes we have to take calculated risks.
