I enjoy going to McDonald's to have a cup of coffee and read the paper. Yesterday I noticed a stack of old newspapers which had been hiding in plain sight. Rather than trashing the stack, I grabbed a bunch off the top and headed off for some coffee.

One section was the Sports page of USA Today from September 10, 2004. And what did I see but an article, complete with photo, about Alexis Serna, the Bombers' new kicker! At the time he was a redshirt freshman at Oregon State. I'm not sure what he did last night, but last I heard he had not missed a FG attempt yet this year.

Great game with eight lead changes. The Riders are 4-0 for the first time since 1970. I think that Luca Congi is 11 for 11 FGs this year.

Looks like our friend Miss Georgia Russell has a thread to herself.

Yeah, I know Chuck. But BClug has just this week reappeared for the first time in months, and I haven't seen John Tapscott for a long while either.

In the meantime, this thread gets a couple of hundred views a week, so I figure that I must be providing a service to somebody! :P

What a game! See-saw battle. I think there were 27 points scored in the fourth quarter. Ryan Dinwiddie looked great.

Another terrific game! The Als led 17-3 after one, and 17-6 at the break. BC took the lead for the first time early in the fourth. The lead changed hands a number of times after that until Paul McCallum won it with a field goal with a few seconds left.

Another great game! Lots of lead changes. But Sask suffered some serious injuries. Darian Durant broke three ribs in the first quarter, and will be put on the nine-week disabled list. Andy Fantuz was having a great game until he apparently broke his leg in the fourth quarter.

With Durant out, third string QB Steven Jyles came off the bench to lead the team to victory. The Riders are 5-0 for the first time since 1934!

The Als have signed Khalil Carter. Carter was expected to be a major contributor to the Argos defensive backfield this year, but in a surprise move he was cut, apparently because he didn't get along with the new head coach Rich Stubler.

Good game. The Lions kicked a field goal very late in the second quarter to establish a 20-10 lead at the half. In the third they stretched the lead to 24-10. After that it was all Eskimos, as they scored 25 unanswered points.

Former Roughrider and Ticat receiver and long-time television analyst Leif Petterson has died of an apparent heart attack. He was only 57.

Not a particularly interesting game. The Bombers showed nothing in the first half. The Argos led 12-0 after one and 18-3 at the break. The Bombers were competitive in the second half, and were only one TD back for most of the fourth quarter with the score 18-11.

This was interesting because it was such an upset. The Ticats are a crummy team, and their starting quarterback and running back didn't play because of injuries.

The first half was even on the scoreboard. The second half was all Ticats.

Ritchie Williams had a very good game. I think the fans are going to storm the Ticats' offices if Charlie Taaffe names Casey Printers the starter for next week.

The Riders scored the first four points, and then the Stamps completely dominated the game. After three the score was 30-4.

And then the Riders got all of the momentum in the fourth and scored three touchdowns. It looked like the Riders might pull it out, but the Stamps got a couple of very timely first downs in the last two minutes to hang on to win.

This was played last night with a 10:30 pm eastern start. I had to get up early this morning, so I had to turn it off and go to bed at the end of the third quarter. It was very exciting up to that point.

The statistics were way out of whack. At one point the Lions had total negative yards, yet were leading with something like 20 points.

Jarious Jackson was lifted in the third for Buck Pierce, so maybe Jackson's hold on the starting position is not secure.

I forgot to say that Thursday night the Roughriders lost another guy with a broken leg. I've never seen a team with so many leg injuries.

The Western teams have a bye next week. The Eastern teams will have the following week off.
