GA Russell Posted March 27, 2012 Author Report Posted March 27, 2012 The Als have signed Luc Mullinder again. http://tsn.ca/cfl/feature/?id=54526 ***** Dave Naylor has a good column comparing Tim Tebow's situation to Doug Flutie's - basically, he is too much of a distraction to be a second string quarterback, so nobody wants him. But I remember that Flutie played for $1 million a year when the Canadian dollar was worth 60 cents. Would Tebow be willing to play in the CFL for current CFL wages? By the way, the Ticats have the neg rights to Tebow. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=391521 Quote

GA Russell Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 Here's an article listing the Canadians who could get picked in the NFL draft. As mentioned in the post #1106 link, this greatly alters the CFL draft, because the guy will be lost to the CFL for three years while he kicks around the NFL trying to land a job. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/canadians-could-make-mark-in-nfl-draft/article2413173/ Quote

They are tight and moisture-wicking. Should be harder to grab. The only new design I've noticed is the Bombers', who will have gold sweaters instead of white ones. The Ticats are returning to their look or a few years ago. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=394726 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/cfl-clubs-unveil-re-engineered-uniforms/article2418888/ http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/cfl-teams-unveil-new-jerseys/article2418920/ ***** After four years of kicking around the NFL, Sam Giguere has signed with the Ticats. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=394844 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/ticats-bolster-receiving-corps-with-samuel-giguere/article2420175/ ***** The Ottawa expansion team has hired Rick Worman to be its lead scout and first football employee. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=394796 ***** The Argos have sacked their head of American scouting, Mike Hagen. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=394822 ***** Now the Bombers are saying that their new stadium won't be ready until September. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=394842 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/bombers-stadium-project-faces-more-delays/article2420143/ Quote
GA Russell Posted May 2, 2012 Author Report Posted May 2, 2012 Draft Day is tomorrow. Here's the best article I've found about it. The NFL drafted three guys who were eligible for the CFL draft, and signed another two undrafted players immediately after. So their stock will decline in the draft. When a player is drafted, that CFL team owns his rights forever, I believe. There have been so many CFL first rounders who didn't pan out that I don't care too much about the draft. If I were a GM, I'd probably go with linemen. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/roughriders-have-tough-decision-to-make/article2420680/ Quote
GA Russell Posted May 3, 2012 Author Report Posted May 3, 2012 The draft is going on right now. Here is a link to live streaming and a list of those already taken. As you can see, six of the seven men taken in the first round were linemen. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/feature/?id=57277 Quote

Just when I say that Lobendahn is probably through, the Stampeders are signing him! http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=395508 ***** The Riders think that the $14 million to be spent to renovate Mosaic Stadium will be good for four years. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/roughriders-outline-mosaic-renovations-ahead-of-new-stadium/article2428905/ ***** Jim Popp would like two additional rounds to be added to the draft so that more CIS players would be invited to camp. (How that follows I don't see. Why don't they just invite the players to camp anyway?) And he also thinks that NCAA players who do not declare themselves eligible for the NFL draft should not be eligible for the CFL draft. He thinks there is too much risk in drafting futures. Popp also pointed out that only 22 of the 45 players drafted last week participated in the league's evaluation camp in March. http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=395500 ***** A concrete ceiling of a steam room at Commonwealth Stadium collapsed, injuring a contractor.
