GA Russell Posted July 22, 2010 Author Report Posted July 22, 2010 The owner of the Ottawa expansion franchise does not expect the team to be called the Rough Riders. The Lions led for most of the game, but Byron Parker ran back an interception for a TD with 2:36 left to give the Argos the lead. Travis Lulay was very sharp in the first half but cooled off in the second. He wasn't helped by Emmanuel Arceneaux, who dropped a pass that would have gone for a TD and probably iced the game for the Lions. Quote
GA Russell Posted July 25, 2010 Author Report Posted July 25, 2010 (edited) Winnipeg Blue Bombers 47....Edmonton Eskimos 21 http://scoreboards.c.../final/W846.htm http://slam.canoe.ca...4/14816866.html http://www.theglobea...article1650946/ Jyles had a good day, presumably his best as a pro. If the Eskimos can't beat the last place Bombers playing without their starting QB, who can they beat? This is the first time since 1965 that the Eskimos have lost their first four games. The Esks have yet to score in the fourth quarter this season. As far as how the game went, the Bombers scored the first 26 points. Edmonton then scored the next 14, and with the momentum shift it looked like Winnipeg's lead might be in jeopardy. But it was all Winnipeg after that. ***** Calgary Stampeders 40....Saskatchewan Roughriders 20 http://www.theglobea...article1651036/ http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Games/2010/07/25/14819141.html It was tied 7-7 at the half, but it was all Stampeders in the second half. The Riders were the last of the unbeatens. Edited July 25, 2010 by GA Russell Quote

GA Russell Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Posted August 1, 2010 Darian Durant played his college ball at Chapel Hill, and there is a terrific Sports Section front page article about him and the Riders in this morning's News & Observer. http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/08/01/607421/durant-finds-a-home-in-canada.html ***** Saskatchewan Roughriders 37....Hamilton Tiger-Cats 24 http://scoreboards.canoe.ca/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=canoe&page=cfl/scores/final/recap.aspx?id=850 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/riders-topple-tiger-cats/article1658776/ The Ticats led 14-13 at the half. As always, Rider coach Ken Miller gave a brief interview before going into the locker room. He said that they had figured out how to defend against the Ticats, and he showed complete confidence that the Riders would win the game. And he was right! Luca Congi kicked 7 FGs. The league record is 8 (Dave Ridgway). This is the second consecutive week that a kicker has kicked 7 FGs against the Ticats. That tells me that the Ticat defense is bending but not breaking. Arland Bruce tied the league record for 16 catches in a game. ***** Calgary Stampeders 23....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 20 http://scoreboards.canoe.ca/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=canoe&page=cfl/scores/final/recap.aspx?id=851 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/rambo-rumbles-stamps-to-win/article1658863/ This was a late game, and I had to go to bed. Can anyone think of another pro sports (if that's what the CFL is) where a team represents the whoole province/state/whatever as the Riders do? Quote
