Very entertaining first half, with both an interception and a wide field goal attempt returned for touchdowns. Ottawa controlled the second half.

The Prime Minister attended the game, and Bob Irving noticed two snipers up on the roof!

With Winnipeg's loss, Calgary has become the first team to clinch a playoff berth.

Stamps 31....Riders 24

http://cfl.ca/article/comeback-denied-tate-scores-late-td-for-the-win

Great game. You will recall that the Riders were shut out last week. Tonight at the half the Stampeders led 9-0.

The Stamps stretched their lead to 24-0 with four minutes left in the third. The Riders put Pitt's Tino Sunseri into the game, and he led the team back to tie the score at 24! Drew Tate led the Stamps on a long final drive, and scored the short touchdown himself with 32 seconds left to win the game.

Argos 34....Ticats 33

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4729935

http://www.tsn.ca/owens-s-69-yard-td-caps-wild-comeback-as-argos-stun-ticats-1.104316

Outstanding game! The Ticats led 30-13 after three. Prior to tonight, the Argos were 0-7 when trailing after three.

They won it when Ricky Ray threw a 69-yard bomb to Chad Owens for the TD with 1:24 left. Here's the video.

You could tell there was a special vibe in the stands. Everybody seemed to be having a good time. It sounded like there were more Ticat fans there than Argo fans.

So the great people of Canada celebrated Thanksgiving today with two lousy ballgames!

Als 40....Riders 9

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4730623

At the half, the Als led 14-7. In fact, in the first half the Riders had the greater time of possession. But the entire second half belonged to the Als, as they scored 20 points in the third quarter.

The Als in a ceremony retired Anthony Calvillo's number.

*****

Eskimos 41....Bombers 9

http://www.tsn.ca/eskimos-clinch-playoff-spot-with-rout-of-blue-bombers-1.106148

The Esks led 37-0 at the half, and 40-0 before the Bombers got on the board with a Hajrullahu field goal midway through the third.

With the win, the Eskimos clinched a playoff spot.

*****

Here's a shocking stat for you: In the past eleven East team vs. West team games, the East team has won nine! I have been following the CFL on a weekly basis since 1974, and I've never before seen the East do so well against the West, even for such a limited period of time.

This was a snoozer, except for the fact that the Redblacks kept it close for most of the game.

The Argos didn't show much in another fairly boring game.

*****

Stamps 33....Bombers 23

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4732008

Drew Willy was out, so the Bombers started Brian Brohm (whom I had never heard of before). The first half was pretty grim, and at the half the Stampeders led 16-6. Then Brohm broke his thumb, and he was replaced by the third stringer Robert Marve (whom I also had never heard of before). Marve was sharp, and he led the Bombers to within three points, 26-23. But the Stamps held on to win.

With the win, the Stamps clinched first place in the West.

Good video.

*****

Eskimos 24....Riders 19

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4732242

http://cfl.ca/article/edmonton-spoils-kerry-josephs-return-in-regina

This was a much better game than I expected. Kerry Joseph played the whole game for the Riders, and he had a very good first half. The Riders led 13-4 at the break. But the Eskimos obtained the momentum when Kendial Lawrence ran the second half kickoff back 96 yards for the TD, and Edmonton scored 20 straight points to put the game away.

Adarius Bowman set the Edmonton team record for passes caught in a season.

With the loss, the Riders were eliminated from contention for second place in the West.

Good video.

In the 2010 draft, the Argos' first pick (third overall) was linebacker Cory Greenwood. He instead signed with Kansas City, and later played for Detroit. The Argos signed him today. He is now 29 years old, so I will be interested to see how much gas he has left in the tank.

Let's begin with last weekend's games.

Montreal 23....Ottawa 17

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4733350

The Redblacks opened the scoring with a touchdown on their first drive. After that it was all Als, although the Redblacks' defense was able to keep the score low and therefore close.

*****

Calgary 40....Saskatchewan 27

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4733370

Quite a game! Kerry Joseph looked great, and the Riders led 27-15 after three. But the Stamps scored 25 unanswered points in the fourth to win it going away.

*****

Toronto 26....Hamilton 24

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4733557

Another good game! The Argos led 15-0 after one, but the Ticats led 21-15 after three. The Argos came back to take the lead for good with a touchdown with just over five minutes left in the game.

*****

BC 28....Winnipeg 23

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4733642

With the win, the Lions clinched a playoff spot for the 18th consecutive year. With the loss, the Bombers were eliminated from the playoffs.

The Bombers led 17-13 after three, but the Lions scored two touchdowns in the fourth to put it away with about four minutes left. The Bombers made it exciting and scored a touchdown with 2 1/2 minutes to go, but that was all they could do.

*****

The league today fined Bob Young $10,000 for criticizing the officials after the Argos game; and it fined Jim Barker $2,500 for "attempting to communicate" with an official during the game!

*****

The league has released its US TV schedule for the rest of the year.

You will note that the Bombers have the bye the last week, so their game against the Stampeders Saturday will wrap up their season.
