I was out this afternoon, and returned in time to hear only the last few seconds.

Mike Hogan said that the Argos "escaped" with the win. The Argos led 23-3 at the half, and then stopped playing.

As a result, the Bombers were eliminated from playoff contention, the Als clinched a playoff spot and the Argos clinched a home playoff game.

The Lions were horrible in the first half, losing a lot of fumbles which the Riders turned into touchdowns. The Riders led 31-7 at the half; and it seemed like both teams were going through the motions in the second half.

With the win, the Riders clinched a home playoff game.

Troy Smith got his first start for the Als, and had a good game - 3 TD passes with 0 interceptions. The Als led 31-3 at the half.

The Als still have a mathematical chance of finishing in second place. They meet the Ticats again Saturday. A win would have clinched second place for the Ticats.

The Argos led all the way, but just like last week the Bombers hung tough. The Argos scored 9 points late in the game to stretch their lead.

With the win, the Argos clinched first place in the East.

Ricky Ray set a team record with 21 straight pass completions. He finished with 39 pass completions, one short of his personal best. Romby Bryant joined the Argos' playing roster and scored two TDs.

This game was meaningless for the standings. The Lions will finish third, and the Eskimos will finish fourth.

Travis Lulay is still out. Thomas DeMarco had two good games, but hasn't looked good since. He started off slowly last night, so Benevides pulled him in the second quarter for Buck Pierce.

Edmonton led 15-1 with 3 minutes to go in the first half. Then it was like old times, as Pierce led the Lions to tie the game at 15 at the half, and they never looked back in the second half.

The Als dominated the entire game, but let this one slip away from them. Montreal led 16-0 midway through the second quarter, and 23-10 after three.

With 3 1/2 minutes left in the game and a 23-20 lead, Sean Whyte attempted a 42-yard field goal. The snap was high, and the kick was ugly and fell short to the three, where Brandon Banks caught it and ran for a touchdown to win the game.

With the win the Ticats clinch second place, and they will host the Als in the Eastern Semi-Final in two weeks.

Great second half see-saw battle. Kevin Glenn has been hot for the past month, but he didn't look so good today; so Hufnagel replaced him in the second half with Drew Tate (Remember him?), and Tate was very good.

With the win the Stamps clinch first place in the West. So now the standings are set, and all four of next week's games will be meaningless.

All four games are meaningless this week, the final week of the regular season, so I imagine the picks won't be worth much.

TSN announced today the results of its annual players poll. As I recall, the past couple of years Buck Pierce was voted the toughest player, but this year it's Mike Reilly.

The Stamps played their starters, and three were injured, the most important being Marquay McDaniel.

Travis Lulay played a little bit, his first game action since Week 12.

The Eskimos may have found their kick returner for next year. Jamal Miles returned a punt 79 yards for a TD with a minute left to win the game.
