I saw Larry Pfohl play for the Als in the 1978 Grey Cup. As you probably know, he went on to fame and fortune in pro wrestling using the name Lex Luger.

He now has an autobiography out entitled Wrestling with the Devil.

Edmonton Eskimos 35....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 27

Fun game! I've found that games between the league's two worst teams are often entertaining.

Max Hall started for the Bombers, and looked good early on. To the surprise of everyone, the Bombers took a 20-0 lead. The Eskimos spent the remainder of the game chipping away, and finally caught up to tie the game at 27 with 23 seconds left in the fourth.

Hugh Charles ran for a touchdown in overtime to win it. The Eskimos had scored 24 unanswered points.

I wasn't able to listen to this game, and it looks like I missed a good one. After three, the Als led 19-13. The Ticats then scored 15 straight in the fourth. The Als scored a TD with 28 seconds left in the game to make it close, but the Ticats recovered the short kick to seal the victory.

Last week Luca Congi missed two field goals, and the Ticats lost by four points. So Kent Austin benched him, and let rookie Brett Lauther play. Lauther kicked four field goals.

Another good game, and a surprise! Calgary played all three of their QBs. This was Drew Tate's first action since early July.

The Stamps led 18-15 at the half, and it was tied at 25 after three. Zach Collaros had a surprisingly good game.

On the last play of the game, the Stamps had the ball at the Argos 45, and they almost scored a touchdown on an open field kick!

Watched the Argos/Stamps game. It was a good game. The Argos seem to have the Stamps number. It will be interesting to see the power rankings this week. With the way Collaros is playing the Argos will have a very interesting decision to make in the off-season - which quarterback to protect (teams can only protect one before the expansion draft). Hard to imagine them not protecting superstar Ray, but he's what 33, 34? and Zach represents the future. He could well be a major star in this league.

John, I imagine that most teams will protect their young quarterback, but I have to think that the Argos won't make Ray available. We'll see!

Holy Toledo! What a fourth quarter!

The Lions controlled a low-scoring first half. With two seconds left, Chris Garrett caught a touchdown pass to give the Riders a 9-6 lead. Even Rod and Carm thought that he dropped the ball, and that it was a bad call.

The Lions came out with a vengeance in the third quarter, and took a 21-12 lead.

Weston Dressler caught a TD pass with 38 seconds left in the game to give the Riders the lead. On the last play of the game, Paul McCallum kicked a 42-yarder to win it.

Great Western is a Saskatoon brewery. They have signed a deal with the league to become the official beer of the league (replacing Molson's), and to create a special beer for this year's Grey Cup.

The Bombers were just awful. A real comedy of errors. Buck Pierce came in to play a little bit for the Lions in the second half, and the Winnipeg crowd gave him a standing ovation, and cheered when he led them on a touchdown drive.

The Lions clinched a playoff berth with the win.

What a second half! Zach Collaros was unimpressive in the first half, and Swayze Waters was just awful. As a result, the Eskimos led 22-1 six minutes into the third quarter. The Argos then caught fire, and scored 33 unanswered points!

This is the first time in CFL history (going back to the late 50s) that a team has played four consecutive road games and won all four of them.

With the win, the Argos clinch a playoff berth.

Very low scoring game. The Als put Tanner Marsh on the nine-game injured list this week, so they went with third-stringer Josh Neiswander. But the Als' D was able to throttle the Riders' O. The Als led 4-3 at the half.

Geroy Simon broke Ben Cahoon's career receptions record. Here's the video:
