Canada has an all-star game for next year's seniors called the East West Bowl. The game gives the scouts an early look of who to pay attention to during the coming year.

This year's game was played yesterday. The East won 24-16.

Here's an article with great photos about bad uniforms through the years.

Following up on the article regarding the bad uniforms, here's the article with photos of the best uniforms. I've always liked the 1948 Stampeders'.

Dave Mann has died.

I had his bubble gum card in 1959. I met him in 1980 in Pittsburgh when he was the head coach of the semi-pro Toronto team, whose name may have been the Grizzlies. They were playing the Pittsburgh Colts, who had former Steeler Jack "Hydroplane" Delaplaine on the team. Nice guy. Much shorter than I had imagined him to be.

Hey, Terrell Owens just got cut by the Indoor Football League (whatever that is)...he might be looking to sign with the CFL!:lol:

TD, from time to time the CFL has had an owner or two who would sign an NFL name in the attempt to sell a few tickets. Dexter Manley, Andre Rison, Mark Gastineau and Ricky Williams come to mind. None of them panned out.

Your link shows that TO was cut because of his behavior. The CFL has just finished with TO's teammate in indoor football named Casey Printers. Printers wore out his welcome in both Hamilton and BC. Because the Printers situation was so recent (2010), I don't think that any current CFL owner or GM would be interested in the headaches that apparently come along with TO.

The Stamps have signed a 31 year old Australian Rules Football player (from Australia) named Scott Crough to try out as punter.

In 2009, Martel Mallet was the league's Rookie of the Year with the Lions. He kicked around the NFL with three teams the past two years, and signed with the Ticats a few months ago.

Today he ruptured his Achilles tendon in training camp, and is likely through for the season. My bet is that his career is over.

The pre-season games start tomorrow night.

Here is the year's schedule.

PS - I see that that link is for the television broadcasts, which do not include all of the pre-season games. Here is a link for the entire schedule.

Over the next two weeks I'll try to verify the radio stations and their URLs for each of the teams.

And so the pre-season starts tonight. In the CFL, the pre-season games are for looking at the rookies, to see who will make the team. The veterans don't play very much.

The league has four rookie head coaches this year (out of only eight teams!), and all four made their debut tonight.
