Calgary Stampeders 38....Montreal Alouettes 31

http://64.246.64.33/...aspx?id=4431456

Another great game this weekend. The Als dominated early, but the Stamps slowly came back and took the lead in the fourth. The Als tied it, and the Stamps won it with 55 seconds left.

This weekend coming up is Labor Day Weekend, which is considered the start of the second half of the season, just as the All Star Game break is considered the start of the second half of the baseball season. So I think this would be a good time to say the following.

In the fifteen or so years that I have been listening to all the games on the internet, this year has been by far the least interesting. Toronto, Saskatchewan, BC and recently Edmonton have been pathetic. That's half the league. There have been fewer exciting games than usual. The passes to nowhere have been in abundance.

But it is not uncommon for things to change in the second half of the year. Just last year BC and Edmonton were quite good in the second half after being dismal in the first half. Saskatchewan has fired its coach, so things may turn around for them. Steven Jyles will soon come off the injured list, so the Argos might get better in a hurry. BC has already shown some signs of improvement recently. Edmonton did well until their top four receivers went down, so if they can just hang on until they get them back, they might surprise in the playoffs.

I can't explain how the Bombers have lost only one game so far. They are good, but not dominating. The Als have played better than their three losses would indicate. The Stampeders started slowly but won games on the road, and now they are starting to perform well. That leaves the Ticats, who will probably finish the year at .500.

So all is not lost for the season yet. But we need to see better quarterbacking and better receiving if they expect people to come out to the games.

Ivor Wynne is 81 years old. It has now been determined that the original plans to renovate it are asking too much of the old structure, so last night the City Council voted to demolish it and build a completely new ballpark. This is good news in the Ticats' minds.

No plans on where they will play their 2013 schedule have been announced.

British Columbia Lions 29....Toronto Argonauts 16

The Lions have looked pretty good the past two weeks playing against rotten teams. Steven Jyles comes off the injured list this week. He has got to be an improvement for the Argos at QB or they can write the season off.

Some records were set. Chad Owens set the Argos record for kickoff return yards. The teams combined to set league records for number of kickoffs and kickoff return yardage.

Surprise! I was unable to listen to the game, so I can't tell you anything you can't read for yourself.

With Ken Miller now coaching the Riders, it looks like we can expect the Argos to be the worst team in the league unless Steven Jyles comes off the injured list to have his best year ever.

John Chick declined the Indianapolis Colts' offer of a practice roster spot, and instead decided to join the Jacksonville Jaguars practice roster.

Both underdogs (I assume) won blowouts in today's Labor Day games.

Sean Whyte missed a field goal after making 24 straight. I'm not sure, but I think that the league record is 25.

Chick made the right move. He's been activated by the Jaguars for Sunday's game.
