Arno Marsh Posted September 14, 2003 Report Posted September 14, 2003 I just want to say how much I enjoyed performing with "Organissimo" this past summer. The group is terrific and the "Gig" was a ball. I had the pleasure of playing with my son Randy on drums which is a rare treat for me. I am pround of him and the guys in the group. They really made the tour a success. Arno Marsh Tenor Sax Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted September 14, 2003 Report Posted September 14, 2003 Yes, I deeply regret your tour coincided with our trip out west. I wish we had been in the area. I echo Jims sentiments, please join in. Quote

connoisseur series500 Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 Hey guys, Are you familiar with the Teddy Edwards tune, "Lee-Ann" on Groove Holmes, "Get up & Get it," which was also reissued on Groove's "Blue Groove?" If so, what's the chance that you guys may be able to play that at the Bird of Paradise? There's a nice latin beat for Randy and great grooves for you and lots of space for Joe. Pat Martino is the guitarist on that session. Man, I can't get that beautiful groove out of my head. Really pretty song. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 I used to play that tune when I first started out. I had a trio with my dad on guitar and my best friend's girlfriend's father on drums (you get that?) That's a nice tune. I'll see if I can pull it out of my collection and relearn it. Paul, I'll also check on the age thing at the BOP. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Great Jim. Thanks!! :rsmile: I think it would be a good platform for Joe's talents as well. Quote
Lazaro Vega Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 The hit with Arno and Organissimo in Grand Haven this summer is something a few of my radio listeners still talk about. Bill McFarlin, president of the International National Association of Jazz Educators and stone Blue Laker, was there and completely dug Arno. How about a Don/Arno front line with the trio at an IAJE convention? Unlike the dub at the pub, Bill has some money to spend...Cool biz... Quote
Lazaro Vega Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I mean Ron (I was thinking of Don Braden, why?) Blake... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 That would be way cool. How can we make that happen? Quote
