chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted November 13, 2007 Author Report Posted November 13, 2007 thanks DM, you know, i think its cause the label was trying to have his records be "commercial", u know? Quote
michel1969 Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 And what are the credits for "Electric funk" (BST83450) ??? If someone knows, let me know !!! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 I don't think anyone knows about either album's credits. These were Sonny Lester productions for Blue Note, after UA had knocked Soiled State on the head. "Black pearl", another Lester BN (and the best of the lot), which DOES have credits, seems to have them wrong anyway. I haven't got "Something to listen to" - a big mistake I made in the seventies, I think, so I can't even guess at the tenor player. Bet Dan Gould has this album.. MG Quote
jbs-tom Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 i got the "something to listen to" bn lp and the track i am listen very often to is: deb sombo - a real funky jazz burner Quote
Harold_Z Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 I haven't heard the tracks in question, but if it's a Sonny Lester production on a Jimmy McGriff date, two names to consider on tenor would be Joe Thomas or Connie Lester. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 Arthur Theus worked with McGriff from about '68 to '71 or so, so he COULD be the tenor player. (Or the alto player ) Or Joe Morris, who was also on board. But I haven't heard this album. MG Quote
