I can think of a bunch, but I'm sure there are a ton more I'm not (yet) aware of.

I'll only mention one to start with, just to get the ball rolling...

Gil Evans' son Miles Evans (yes, named after that Miles), plays trumpet (I think, if I remember right), and played in Gil's band (orchestra) for a number of years (at least in the 80's, that I'm aware of).

The musician offspring need NOT be well known -- just whatever seems interesting to this thread. (And the jazz musician parent(s) need not be very well known, but at least known to some around here.)

Others of note??

Remember, the musical offspring need NOT be involved in jazz. In some ways, I'm hoping this thread will reveal a few slightly well-known NON-jazz musician kids (with a jazz parent), that I and others here were not previously aware of.

Hey, I just fixed this one so it's better than my first try -- so back off!! :g

Larry Coryell has two sons, Julian Coryell and Murali Coryell that play guitar.

Karen Mantlers parents are Michael Mantler & Carla Bley.

That's all I have for now. If I come up with any more, you'll be the first to know. :rfr

New Orleans old-style clarinet family:

Lorenzo Tio, Jr., born in 1893. His father was Lorenzo Tio, Sr., born in 1867; and his uncle, Louis “Papa” Tio, born in 1862. A long line of New Orleans musicians who would become jazz greats took music lessons from the Tio family: Barney Bigard, Omer Simeon, Jimmy Noone and the great Sidney Bechet.
