Are you asking if my cars are old [they are] or are you asking if the potential buyers of cars are? BTW...it would be "you're" not "your." in your signature: "oh, by the way, I think your an idiot aloc" Capitalization would be something to consider as well. And you're welcome. Uncle Skid Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 I briefly considered a Buick Lucerne when I was looking for a car earlier this year. Decided against it because it's a Buick -- that's an "old guy's" car -- and I have owned two Oldsmobiles over the years! It's really a very nice car, and reliability has supposedly been good as well. I just hate those four holes in the front fenders! Quote

What would ALL CAPS mean, then? From Merriam-Webster's dictionary: grammar Main Entry: gram·mar Listen to the pronunciation of grammar Pronunciation: \ˈgra-mər\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English gramere, from Anglo-French gramaire, modification of Latin grammatica, from Greek grammatikē, from feminine of grammatikos of letters, from grammat-, gramma — more at gram Date: 14th century 1 a: the study of the classes of words, their inflections, and their functions and relations in the sentence b: a study of what is to be preferred and what avoided in inflection and syntax 2 a: the characteristic system of inflections and syntax of a language b: a system of rules that defines the grammatical structure of a language So, what does using caps have to do with grammar? NOTHING. Edited October 29, 2007 by vibes Quote
catesta Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 None of my rides are on the list, but judging by what I see out on the street, I would say probably a middle age average. Quote
Noj Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 American auto makers should try manufacturing cars which don't break down. I drive a Honda Element. It's ugly as hell, but runs great. Quote
BruceH Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Exactly. Not for the first time, that article made me think that if the big three US car makers want to compete with foreign car makers all they have to do is manufacture cars that are just as reliable and fuel efficiant, or more. This they won't or can't do. The results are predictable. Quote

Whatever happened to all that hugga-mugga about the "invisible hand of the marketplace" stuff anyway? Seems to me if you can't survive in the "marketplace" then I guess it's time to pack it in and close up shop. Edited October 30, 2007 by GoodSpeak Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Our daughter leased a Chevy Cobalt sport coupe when they came out - in Detroit, family price at the time. The silver inlay around the window buttons, on the door are friggin' painted. Nails scratch the paint down to the black plastic. When she leaves the car out in the rain she has a pool of water in the back seat. The dealer can't duplicate the event so there is no remedy. Her previous cars were a Subaru and a Honda. I don't think the US companies can do anything to lure her back. Quote

Gearbox locked up on the freeway once and I did a four wheel slide to a stop in the fast lane. Fixed that and then the engine blew. Smoke, engine parts, oil, water...the whole nine yards. I sold it for parts. They couldn't give me an American made car. Edited October 31, 2007 by GoodSpeak Quote
Tim McG Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Well, OK...they could give me one. But I'd sell it the next day and buy a real car. Grrrrrr Quote
