Brad Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 I recently picked up this for a light price (thank goodness) and I don't know if it's me but the sound on this makes it almost unlistenable. The notes indicate that it was recorded in Germany. Now I don't know if the master is bad and Rudy did what he could but it's hard to listen to. I can't say the music is that great either. I found her treatment of What's New, for example, strange. I'm no pianist but it seemed like she was trying to limit the harmonic effect. Quote
Parkertown Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 Never noticed a problem with the sound on this one. Perhaps I'll give it a spin today... I recall the music as nice, but not groundbreaking. But, I'm not the best at picking stuff out on the first couple of listens... Quote
jazzbo Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 I only have a burn of the original release, and I find the sound perfectly acceptable, and dig the performance. . . . I like Ms. Hipp! Quote
bebopbob Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 A brief but enjoyable set-unfortunately the sound isn't great. Too bad Rudy wasn't there to capture the recording on tape. Quote
