king ubu Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Les McCann Ltd. in New York was reissued in the same Japanese series as the Jazz Waltz album by Les and the Crusaders - both are very good, indeed! Quote
mikelz777 Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) For those who are curious or interested, sound samples for "Jazz Waltz" can be found on the lower half of the page at the link below: Sound samples - Jazz Waltz I'm certain that I'm going to enjoy it as I've enjoyed everything by the Jazz Crusaders and the Crusaders up until Those Southern Knights, the last recording before Wayne Henderson left the group though they were starting to lose their shine with me around the time of Chain Reaction and Those Southern Knights. A lot of people dig Free As The Wind but I lose total interest from there and beyond. Edited February 5, 2012 by mikelz777 Quote
mikelz777 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Is there any news on if the Jazz Crusaders' Lighthouse '69 will ever be re-released? Quote
shaft Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Is there any news on if the Jazz Crusaders' Lighthouse '69 will ever be re-released? Na, will have to spin my LP a while longer. It is the best of the Crusaders Lighthouse session IMO! Quote
monkboughtlunch Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Is there any news on if the Jazz Crusaders' Lighthouse '69 will ever be re-released? Regarding Lighthouse '69, M.C. noted as follows: " EMI plans to reissue nothing. Maybe things will change but not for the lower selling artists like the Jazz Crusaders. This was the only one I didn't get to because I wanted to remix it, but it was recorded on 8-track instead of four-track and had lots of repairs and some overdubs. So it would have been three times the cost to remix and I never could justify the cost. Ah well - win some, lose some." As far as what extras are on those multitracks, M.C. noted: "Mostly multiple versions of the album tunes plus a couple of old hits like Young Rabbits etc." Quote
king ubu Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Aw shit... guess we all need to hunt for vinyl then. Quote
Daniel A Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 I really would have liked to hear the extra material. I agree that '69 is the most enjoyable of the Lighthouse albums. I suppose a Japanese reissue, which would seem the only - remote - possibility, wouldn't include the bonus material. Quote
