MoGrubb Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I've never heard the word ginormous before. re: "one toke over the line" Wonder what other reference that phrase could have, other than drugs? It must have one because it's doubtful that Welk would've allowed a drug reference on his show. Quote

Larry Kart Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Why did the women on Welks show always have ginormous foreheads? A strain of mutants. Quote
MoGrubb Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Not to hijack, but Welk always had fine players, singers and dancers; kinda barf city/galvanized, but they were topnotch. Quote

I'd be willing to bet that when Mr. Welk found out what it really meant after he had aired it, that's what killed him! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 One of the REALLY strange things about America is how popular Lawrence Welk was. Seeing that clip brought it home to me all over again. You're a very strange people, y'know. MG Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Welk introducing Take The A Train: "Take A Train" Sounds like a genuine slip of the tongue. There's a thread somewhere here about the album Welk made with Johnny Hodges. Apparently Welk was a BIG fan. Unlikely, therefore, that he didn't know what the tune was called. MG Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 round here we watch the Welk show on PBS every Sat night, I find that the color combos they use make drugs kinda unnecessary... Quote
