dprfish Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 If you've ever wondered what the scores for "City of Glass" look like... ****Link removed by SOAW 5/24/2011 Quote
DukeCity Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Kenton donated his entire library of charts to the University of North Texas. When I played in the band there, the director dug out Graettinger's arrangement of "Laura." Sweet Fancy Moses! That was some dark shit! Quote

Spontooneous Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Is that the City of Glass score or the score sheet from Bob's bowling night? Quote
Nate Dorward Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 So how does one decipher those scores anyway? Anyone crack the code? -- I remember once reading that Graettinger left behind a fair bit of music but none of the scores that hadn't already been transcribed into normal notation during his lifetime were decipherable. Rooster_Ties Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Crap, missed this thread the first time -- and I'd really liked to have seen those scores. Anybody got a fresh link?? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 (edited) Been listening to Kenton - "City of Glass" a whole lot the last week (the CD reissue of most/all(?) of Bob Graettinger's compositional output) -- and for the first time (after YEARS of trying), I'm really starting to dig it. Is this all the Graettinger there is out there? Any notable recordings of his material, beyond the Kenton I have on the one CD? Edited May 23, 2011 by Rooster_Ties Quote
