Cliff Englewood Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 Old one had a Blue Note vibe to its design. The new one is just fugly. That's exactly what I was thinking, the old one just looked more "Jazzy". Quote
neveronfriday Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 I wish they would add the discographical info for the old sets. I have no idea why they remove it once a set goes OOP. Stupid. Quote
brownie Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 I wish they would add the discographical info for the old sets. I have no idea why they remove it once a set goes OOP. Stupid. Absolutely. Would not take that much space and would be very helpful to a lot of fans of the label! Quote

BruceH Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 I prefer the old look. But maybe I was just used to it. Old one had a Blue Note vibe to its design. The new one is just fugly. Yeah! That's it---that Blue Note vibe! Gotta love it. I take it "fugly" is short for "fuckin' ugly"? I'd have called it bland and standardized, but fugly, well...yes. Quote
brownie Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Why not ask Mosaic? This was done earlier today. Will report any reply The Mosaic reply came in today: Good suggestion and we will look into it. Thanks for the comments. They are much appreciated. Quote
king ubu Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 I'm not sure how much I like the new design... I think the old one might have been better. But the site looks easy to handle now, that's for sure. I also asked them about posting the old/OOP sets' discographies, it would be great to have them all accessible! Quote
Swinging Swede Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 I thought the old look was the new look. I remember an earlier one. Or possibly even two earlier ones? Quote
Van Basten II Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 By the way there is currently a sale. All selects for the next week are available for 39 bucks, singles at 13 $. Quote

All selects for the next week are available for 39 bucks, singles at 13 $. ..And 10 - 15% off the prices of the big sets. See also this thread. The sale ends October 14. Van Basten II Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Woops, did not see the note about the big sets, let's get busy. Edited October 8, 2007 by Van Basten II Quote
Swinging Swede Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Yep, two earlier versions. I checked with Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, and the first one seems to have been active in 1999-2003: Mosaic site in 1999 Mosaic site in 2003 Then there was the second one which only seems to have been used in 2003-04: Mosaic site in 2004 Then the third version was used in 2004-07 and this is what has been called the old design in this thread. And now we have the fourth version. What was wrong with the older ones anyway? Quote
Daniel A Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Funny, I could've sworn the 2004 design lasted longer, but the archive proves differently. After checking out the links above I realized I'd forgotten how the site looked like up to last week! So here's: The 2004-7 version Quote
Van Basten II Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 If we use the link circa 1999 that advertises the Mosaic Andrew Hill , will there still be copies available Quote
Swinging Swede Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 Sure. But it is dangerous to change history. If you buy one, some other board member's copy will instantly disappear from his shelf. And he won't be happy! Quote
Adam Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 "Add to Wishlist" is now present, on the right side of each set's page. Quote
king ubu Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 "Add to Wishlist" is now present, on the right side of each set's page. well, who cares - wishlist is just all that I don't have yet... Quote
tranemonk Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 Hate it... Too much verbage... Just plain old ugly.... Quote
Brad Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 I was just looking at the new Hampton set and the website IMHO is really fantastic on all the different things you can see about an upcoming set, related sets, etc. A quantum improvement over what existed. Quote
billyboy Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 The design of the page is ok, it's the marketing-speak descriptions that completely turn me off. I have no need for words like "Feel the Passion," "lovingly researched," "CDs encased inside." Sounds more like Pottery Barn or Godiva Chocolates than Mosaic. Quote
