B. Goren. Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 I have just received e-mail message: Leo Records is a small independent company producing highly original, innovative, improvisation-based new music; music that refuses to be submitted to the market forces, that goes against the grain of current wisdoms; music that asks questions, provokes debate, generates ideas. This is music that matters. Although the catalogue of Leo Records includes composers and musicians from all over the world, the origin of the musicians is not so important. What matters is the originality of the music. Right now, all CDs from Leo's New Music offshoot, Leo Lab is on sale for an incredibly low price of $9.99 each. These CDs are regularly $15.99! CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL 53 TITLES ON SALE Regularly $15.99 Now $9.99 Please allow 3 weeks for processing. Sale Expires Sunday, September 30th. Quote
GregK Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 I wish this was for all Leo titles, not just Leo Lab. Quote

king ubu Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 couple of good ones: John Bickerton - Shadow Boxes Collective 4tet - any or all if you like this kind of free jazz Mat Maneri - Fever Bed Pandelis Karayorgis - Heart and Sack Soegaard Ensemble - Cronos Didier Petit - NOHC on the Road Hannes Wiener / Peter Niklas Wilson - Alphea (this one's a stunningly beautfiul disc!) also probably these: James Fei - Solo Works Joachim Gies - both Uwe Obert - Lo but it's been a while that I played them... the Not Missing Drums project is great, too, but not jazz by far not jazz... Gies is involved there, too, leading it with Thomas Boehm-Christl. I don't have "Offline Adventures", "Urban Voices" is more vocals-based (but vocals - classically trained female singers - form a part of the project anyway). Similar with The Remote Viewers. A weird pop/song/sax group that I kind of like... can't keep the discs apart, really, though... and some may really hate this stuff! all or most of these have mostly been mentioned in the "funny rat"-thread Quote
