tonym Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Beautiful! BTW you know the Stag; they were a bitch of a motor. Don't know if you know this but at the time Triumph was part of the British Leyland group, who also owned Rover. Triumph wanted a gutsy engine for the Stag, but something other than the straight six, which the TR6 had. Let's put a V8 in, they thought. But rather than using the reliable and efficient (torquey, light and fairly powerful) Rover V8 (a copy of an American design ), they built their own, without utilising any spec or info from the existing Rover engineers . As it happened, the new engine was a pig and they had multiple design faults. I know of two current Stag owners who've supplanted RV8s into their cars. Back to topic; does anyone like the new Mustang? Quote
Chrome Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Back to topic; does anyone like the new Mustang? If you're a muscle-car fan, it's a flat-out home run ... they did a great job of updating the classic look, and they've already had to increase production on them. Quote

I love it's looks (but not in that colour ). The rear axle situation supposed to be a bit archaic though. If I had that money to spend on a new car, it'd definately be a contender. Quote
WD45 Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Like it as well. It looks great on the road, too! Definitely and improvement over the jellybean atrocity that started in 1994. I like the touch with the small windows in the back like the old GT 350 H Mustangs. I saw one of those on the road this past weekend! Quote

My Dad tells the tale of renting one of those in either L.A. or San Diego, when Hertz had these Hurst machines for rent...and how cops where behind him almost the whole time he drove the thing, never could really get on it! WD45 Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 Bummer! I would have a hard time not launching that thing into a sideway burnout at every stoplight. Quote

mgraham333 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I just bought a 2006 Honda Accord LX Special Edition for my fiancee. It's her first NEW new car. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 That list of the worst cars is pretty funny. My wife had a Ford Bronco II (in high school, way before I knew her) and my dad had a Delta 88 for awhile. What about the Ford LTD? Man, that was a huge piece of shit. My sister had a Chrysler Cordoba 2-door. That was a sweet ride! Poop brown with a leather interior! Quote
Ron S Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 What about the Ford LTD? Man, that was a huge piece of shit I still have a vivid memory of when my dad drove home our brand-new '68 Ford LTD, metallic green with a black vinyl top, just like this one: Even then, at 11 or 12 years old, I remember thinking that we'll be SOL if those slick flip-up headlights ever get stuck in the down position. Jim Alfredson Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I should be more specific... I meant the mid-80s Ford LTDs that were so small they were like a clown car. Quote
Ron S Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I should be more specific... I meant the mid-80s Ford LTDs that were so small they were like a clown car. Then you should have said that they were small pieces of shit. Now that '68 LTD, that was a huge piece of shit. Quote
DukeCity Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Ahh...the '78 Ford LTD. Great land yacht for sailing the open freeways when I lived in Texas. Not so good for parking when living in Chicago. Quote
catesta Posted September 22, 2005 Author Report Posted September 22, 2005 I had an LTD myself. It didn't look too unlike the one pictured. Quote

I tell you though, it does look weird when you see one like this cruising along a british A or B road; almost like it's just landed from another, much larger, planet. Quote
