That's probably why I don't eat it boiled because the smell carries over to the table. Now, collards are another thing, they stink, but ooohh what a lovely stinking taste. Quote

Probably works well because the mayo, celery, pepper and whatever else you throw in mask the boiled taste. Quote

They were a lot more consistent back in the 60s & 70s before they became omnipresent. But a well-made, fully loaded triple-triple is one of those things you can't get anywhere else that you wish you could. Quote

As far as burgers go, I would call it the gourmet of fast-food burgers: you can definitely get better (did someone say Chapps? MMMMMmmmmm!!!!!), but they're better than any of the other fast-food chains down here. It's definitely a Texas thing. My son could eat there every day, every meal if given the chance. Free For All Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) Best chicken soup: boil the bird (I usually remove most of the skin, but I leave the "giblets"), then remove the meat from the bones and strain the broth (you can also let it cool and strain the fat, but eliminating the skin before cooking makes this step less critical), toss in the veggies (celery, carrot, onion and whatever else you like) and some noodles (I like those homemade egg noodles) return the meat to the pot, season, simmer and kiss that cold goodbye. Good eatin'! My other favorite chicken recipe is to cook it in the crockpot. I usually put in a little chicken broth and some onion soup mix, plus some other seasonings, sometimes some wine. When it's done I'll strain the broth, make a flour & butter roux, add some of the broth and some milk and create some kick-ass gravy. If you like, you can also use the giblets in the gravy- I usually chop 'em up and saute 'em a bit. Best with mashed potatoes and green beans IMHO. Sometimes I'll start it before going to bed, and I wake up when it starts smelling good. Edited September 23, 2007 by Free For All Quote
